No thats what PM is for. Everyone has like minded private online mates that they further expand debates with. People would only look at the negative and/or derogatory remarks and remember those forever so it could never go back to normal after the amnesty of 'just once' I believe.

Some might fancy the idea I don't see what purpose it would serve.

No you don't, but I get the essence of what Suzy is saying. Most people who contribute to forums have done so for many years and know what its like if a forum is anything goes.

People curb their language and passion sometimes on this forum when they would have liked to have let off steam I'm sure but I think this usually does them an injustice in the end. So I guess we are protected from ourselves with certain rules.

Now a question and answer session with admin would be brilliant...

I feel I do speak my mind on here and I feel happy with the opinions Ive given. Thats all I really want to do. I have no wish to want to insult someone.

What purpose would telling people on here what you think of them serve? Those people wouldnt care what you said or what you thought of them. They are strangers, they dont affect your life or have any impact on it. So it doesnt really matter.

Then offer your opinions Suzy. If its not in an offensive way, no-one can ban you. Speak your mind and offer your thoughts, not everyone will agree with you, they will challenge you, but then you offer your explanation back.

If answering back results in a ban and the person who has insulted you gets away with it that doesn't seem fair. So perhaps if you see something that is aimed personally at you just report the remark?

If you are the sort of person who gets noticed for a clever reply often the instigator that made you make that response disappears into the woodwork, in my experience of life.

I could make some real smartarse replies to a lot of circumstances but I'm afraid thats often frowned upon. So I will just be 'blonde' in a lot of circumstances now.

Often when people want to call someone a twat, thick fucker or needy grunt, there is a reason behind it.

The insult is just a general summary.... though for some it is fuelled by the frustration of not being able to express themselves.

If you focus on what is behind the insult, there aren't many instances you can't be honest.

Now I could be wrong... but this is probably a fairly good example of why you get some of the reactions you have had in the past.

Just an observation, but quite often when a subject doesn't go your way, you appear to ignore the fact some people might have agreed with you and start to reply only focusing on the people who disagree with you.

Some comments give the impression you are sulking rather than debating.

Of course this is just my perspective of what I read.

If someone has you blocked by mail or vice versa, you can still answer their threads or posts. You can ignore obviously if you wish.

The rule about getting round blocks is more if someone starts a thread saying " bigfluffywitch ( not a real name hopefully ) please mail me" or asking someone to unblock you while chatting on the forums.

Its probably a good job the rules of posting are in place because if they were not, some of the 'honesty' that I would send in the direction of the OP might just be too much for her to cope with- same as many threads, I hold it in check, and if I find my blood about to boil, I click away from the thread.

I took it as the poster referring to herself and not the OP, but therein lies the problem I think. The OP does seem, on many occasions, to take disagreement as personal slights and can be very defensive. So maybe she forms an unrealistic _iew of peoples _iews towards her, hence she wants to hit back at these people.

We all sometimes have a tendency to do this as the written word is so easily misconstrued. If you see a certain person doing it more than usual, following around a forum, making personal remarks about yourself, your family, trying to take the piss to achieve a kind of elevated status, then challenge it of course.

But mainly have fun when using the site, get out of it what you want. Don't take what others are doing or saying and get wound up by it. Its not easy I know

That's why on another thread a while ago the question was raised about whether we'd take delight in hearing misfortune of a poster we didn't like. God what's all that about. I was really surprised that people would get enjoyment out of misfortune of people they only know through writing a few words on a forum - that seems pretty mean to me

There seems to be a few "dangerous styles" of commenting on here, irony and expressing ironic things often get missread and folks turn all defensive and offended as an example, pity, when all your doing is trying to have a bit fun.

That's exactly how Mrs A meant it... absolutely no reference to the OP.

When a relaxed approach/_iew is cast on these here forums, they are a nice read. If your going to log in with a _iew that everyone else is logging in to ruin someones day, then you'll take too much to heart and feel quite shitty.

With that said.... there are keyboard warriors on here... if someone is prepared to sit there and agree with their, shall I say, 'troll-like' posts and then go on the defensive because they feel they are getting a hard time then they have quite a lot to learn regarding respect.... it's hard to respect anyone that scratches the back of people deliberately trying to cause trouble

"If answering back results in a ban and the person who has insulted you gets away with it that doesn't seem fair.

"

Maybe not fair, but that's how it can be.

if this forum continues, can we have no falling out tonight

let's have a peaceful thursday evening for a change.

all get comfy on your couches, kick the shoes off, open a beer, pop your corks, get your nibbles at the ready, take a few deep breaths, regain your serenity and then stay positive

can't see it meself like, but we live in hope

O o O oo

The only bans any of you will know about is your own, you really don't know about anyone elses unless they tell you.

You know there is nothing worse than bitching over previous posts and forum bans all the time. If any of you have a problem with a ban do what the rules say and contact Admin from the contact button at the bottom of the page, and stop bringing it onto the forums.

Admin DO check all forum bans and what leads up to them. They also check any complaints people have about their bans.

If you ban has been given in error or is an unjust ban it will be overturned straight away.

I am shutting this now as too many posts have had to be removed.
