I rarely drink. Mades me feel lousy so I stopped drinking alcohol. I do appreciate a good red wine but the quest of finding the ultimate taste waned and so did my enthusiasm.

People think thats a big indertaking but once you stop you realise it was just a habit. I would open wine as a matter of course in the evening and half the time didnt even drink it.

What are your drinking habits? Strictly social, habitual every evening or during the daytime? Have you ever worried you had a drinking problem and do you think its so cheap to buy now its open for abuse and in particular is cheap alcohol responsible binge drinking culture amongst the young? Well and the older generations too, it has to be said.

Is there anyone amongst us who has never drank at all?

I do like a drink but am a barman so am fully aware of the risks. I am either full on fifteen pints and a bloody good laugh or can just as easily not drink when out. Also enjoy a drop of wine indoors!

I never drank until I was 23

Then went though the next 15 years or so getting pissed most nights

Contrary ta popular opinion I drink a lot less now

A couple a voddys a night at best

Unless I'm wi a certain person then we both drink ta dull the pain xx

I cant drink alot .... 2 glass wine and i have a hang-over from hell next day .. champage now i can drink that , I drink Cinzano with Lemonade and ice and lemon ... thats my drink .. But not everyday just a treat now and again.

As I am now usually driving when out I rarely drink, and at home I really am not that bothered, although a drink with a meal is nice occasionally.

Thats not to say I cant tie one on,on occassion

I enjoy a drink and I do drink at home.. but I don't do it every night. Sometimes when I get in from a long shift late at night I just have the one to relax me but that's all.

At a weekend can be a different matter depending on my shifts. I can't work feeling like crap.

Alcohol and me have a fantastic relationship - it doesn't give me hangovers so I don't tempt fate by gorging myself stupid when partaking of it. I can have five pints of strong lager anf feel merry, or three gins and feel rat-arsed, a bottle of wine and I'm rampant, two bottles and I'm asleep.

But I just love the fact that I know I don't have to worry about the after effects the next morning - much to Siren's everlasting annoyance. That's feckin love for ya innit - she prays for the day I get a hangover!!

the older I have gotten the less I actually drink... probably because I have now gotten the chance to be on the other side of the bar, and it was the one thing that really shocked me into drinking less...

obviously I still have the odd day (st.patricks) where its acceptable.. but for the most part I am the sensible one....

saying that I still have an emergency stash of 20 guinness in my fridge for certain situations.....

I like a drink....but have, at times, gone months without having any. I occasionally have a single drink at home in the evenings...but rarely if I'm alone, and then it tends to be something like Cointreau, cherry brandy or port n lemonade. If I'm out I usually drink vodka - sometimes only a couple, sometimes far too much (like last Saturday and I've got horrendous bruises as a result of a birthday party at Partners...but I'm blaming the vodka jellies for that!

). I rarely drink during the day, the exception to that being parties at Chameleons

I don't really get hangovers either....no headaches/feeling sick but as the years have gone by I find I feel really tired for days after a good session. However I wouldn't say I get d*unk on a regular basis and, unlike way back in my youth, I never set out to get d*unk....it only happens when Ilm really enjoying myself.

I have a fairly casual relationship with alcohol.

I've never really felt the desire to drink on my own.

I have a shed load of booze at home, but it's for social gatherings. Beer, wine and the sparkly stuff in the fridge, yet it doesn't cross my mind to open any of it until people come around.

I have more bottles of spirits in the pantry than the last function bar I went to.... I do like making cocktails.

Unless I know someone well, I don't drink on meets either.... never felt the need to calm the nerves. I like the tingle of sexual anticipation rather than the tingle of an over active bladder.

I know I mentioned cheap alcohol but the cost of wine had a lot to do with choosing to give up. When I was putting out the empty bottles for the fortnightly 'green' collection they added up to almost £200. Buying the odd bottle here and there seems like nothing but what used to cost a fiver went up to 8 then 10 and the thought that all of that could buy a fortnights hol sealed the deal for me.

I was a ickle hell raiser in my younger days..running with Angels et al...being an extremist by nature..I had a love affair with alcohol that nearly killed me...

I gave it up many moons ago...and moved into another part of my life....

Never missed it..and never had so much fun %*

Drink much less now that I am older. As when I was younger, much younger, I would be out most nights drinking something or other.

Then my habits where temper by kids, who I have to say have never even seen me slightly tippsy.

Still have my momentand find sometime that I am the last man standing long afet most have gone to bed.

Bubbles and happy drinking.

If I do raise a glass it is bubbly! but even that makes me feel lousy after just a couple.

Going to a party on Saturday and I will take rose wine and ginger ale and make spritzers. That way Im not constantly asked 'come on have a drink - its fun.!' I can have fun without the hangover lol. I think a lot of what others think stops a lot of people giving up.

Usually on Friday and/or Saturday night, end of the week relax switch off from work.

Though if going out to a swing club don't touch a drop. Very different on vanilla nights out, usually there dancing, drinking, and either I am lots of fun to watch and laugh at, or just general fun as get asked back.

Cost is an issue, do a wine club, 14 bottles a quarter, price is creeping up, but some good wines. The cheaper offers at supermarket are tempting, though probably not as good.

I think this is true...I entertain my clients a bit..never drink as I drive and I always get asked why and how? I find these question funny..I do not need drink to feel good...oh and I rarely get a hangover no matter what I drink.

I rarely drink and went off it when I was with my children's father, an alcoholic. Neither of us worked but his needs always came first. I drank when I went on holiday with them but other than that, it's no big deal. And I don't buy wine to chill out with after work aside from not being particularly bothered, I just can't afford to nor do I want to, much rather have a cup of redbush to relax with

rarely drink now, and never what i used to say even 5 years ago and only ever socially, i used to have an extensive spirits collection, now its a rare occasion there is a beer in the fridge, habits change and i usually have more fun without it.

I normally crack open a beer when I get home from work as I find that whilst I am pottering around in the kitchen sorting my supper out it has become a habit. Normally have a few beers watching the football but rarely go out to the pubs just to get loads of alcohol down my neck.

Enjoy a G&T or nice white wine if out socialising though.

I don't have a relationship with drink as I don't drink at all. I tried a glass of punch at the beach party social and could only manage two sips as it was far too strong for me.

I've never been a lover of alcohol, never need it for social situations and don't even drink it at xmas etc. I'm not keen on the taste.

Really dislike wine and beer is vile. I could never drink lager. If I had to choose an alcoholic drink I could tolerate it would be a cream. Based cocktail or maybe a small glass of baileys and that's cos I have a really sweet tooth

I'm lucky enough to have never had a hangover even when I've probably deserved one but that's probably because I have a very narrow window between being merry and feeling ill.

I like a drink but only ever have one or two if I'm out. I like the relaxed feeling but not the subsequent dizzy/clumsy/nauseated feeling. And booze tends to make me introspective and miserable and I'm perfectly capable of behaving like an idiot on orange juice!

A very good friend of mine has battled alcoholism for years but he has a very addictive and obsessive personality; once he decides he wants to do something he goes for it 110% be it booze or curing cancer.

I think that that you have to have a certain personality type to get addicted to alcohol. But binge drinking in young people is much more of a worry; I deal with d*unken teens on an all too regular basis. It seems to be worryingly ingrained into our culture that getting totally shedded is OK. And I don't think it's a new thing; I remember being a student in Newcastle in the 80s and being horrified by it then.

But then again the Bigg Market may just have been ahead of its time!!

Think im the opposite of most people, I rarely drank when I was younger, dont know if this was due to being a young mother or the fact that Mr A hardly ever takes a drink unless we are on holiday or socializing, even then he would have 3/4 pints max.

I would have a few drinks at the weekend and its usualy vodka and diet . Sometimes it would be a couple other times more, depends on what I'm doing at the time.

I like a beer or a glass of wine when I have meal, even when I am on my own at home.

I would drink when out on a social event if I do not have to drive or am staying overnight at a hotel etc...

I have a works do this Sat, and it has a free bar. No doubt I shall have a few!

I enjoy alcohol but I have no dependancy. I have a close family member with a dependancy, which makes me acutely aware of my relationship with drink- I can take it or leave it.

I can have a glass of wine with dinner, return the bottle to the fridge and not touch it again for three days. I can go on a bender with the girls and not drink again for weeks, or I can have no alcohol while others are drinking around me and be indifferent.

Wish I could be like that with chocolate!

My affair with that cruel mistress alcohol is over.

I catered to her every whim and she treated me kind at first, then I relied on her companionship too much.

She was on my mind every waking hour and often sought her out at any hour.

It was a relationship that I thought would never end, but alas the path we walked took a turn niether of us expected.

I often see her, there are many reminders of looks, taste, her scent but I know I must resist, even when she beckons.

Goodbye seems so final, maybe it is.

I dont think people drink because its cheap. Cigaretes arent cheap but people still smoke. I had to give up smoking because it made me cough. If it didnt i would still save some money to buy cigaretes. I like a drink, but not in the daytime. Unless i am on holiday.

There's a simple definition of a drinking problem. Any time drink stops you doing something you want to, you have a drinking problem. Any time drink leads to you doing something you don't want to, you have a drinking problem.

Put like that, I had a drinking problem. I don't have one now.

I drank a bit when younger and even brewed beer for a while as a hobby but much the same as you, found it a nuisance in my life and just stopped about 15 years ago.

The nearest I get to alcohol these days is the turps for my oil painting or a quick sniff at a wine's bouquet on a special occasion.

No need for it at all.

At 35, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and that kicked the drinking into touch.

So whilst I did used to drink, since then I have pretty much been a diet / lime and soda kinda guy.

If it's a hot sunny afternoon, I will sometimes have a lager shandy and I sometimes just fancy a beer and will pop to the off licence and buy a single bottle.

I like a glass of port every now and then and sometimes a glass of decent red wine , but other than that, it's soft drinks for me.

So whilst I'm not a t-totaller, I am not a drinker either.

i seem to have a reputation amongst my family of being a bit too fond of the drink but in truth i rarely drink these days cos i never go out

if i do drink i like a vodka or two if i am out on the town but if i am at the rugby then its cider - usually pear

We both drank a lot when we were teenagers up to our early 20's and were always in the pub after work and every weekend.

Now we very rarely drink at all, it just doesn't really appeal to us anymore. We might have 1/2 when we go out with friends and at Chrismas etc but that's it.
