Lesbian actress thrown off plane for kissing her girlfriend.

American actress, Leisha Hailey, has claimed she's been a victim of homophobic discrimination after she and her girlfriend were kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight.

Flight attendant told her that Southwest 'was a family airline and kissing was not ok and that she and girlfriend were escorted off the plane for getting upset about the issue.

Myself I just dont see whats wrong with watching an affectionate, passionate kiss between two lesbians who have genuine feelings for one another cant be bad .. can it ..

It was probably not so much the lesbian kissing that disturbed the flight, as the circle of blokes standing around drooling and rubbing their crotches..

Especially that one fella who should really have been flying the plane at the time

just in this day and age two woman kissing is not a big deal is it .. I was in London on tude see two men kissing i just looked a smiled thinking it was sweet.

and kevin smith (famous director and actor) had an infamous run in with southwest over there "too fat to fly" policy.... in which he was ordered off the plane and made to buy a 2nd seat... only problem is that he had been flying with them for 18 yrs and this is the 1st time that they had pulled him up on it....

it is a bit different as if you allow your children to watch dr who and know there may be a kiss (doubt it would be a full blown snog) then thats your choice. If you're on a plane or anywhere public I suppose then it isn't your choice -their behaviour is forced upon you. Z

I think sticking your tongue down the throat of anyone whilst on a plane is probably a little ott and likely to offend some. Also I get the idea that they were only asked to leave because they made a fuss after being asked to refrain. Reasonable surely? Would it have made the headlines if they were male female couple? Some places in the world they actually inprison people for behaviour like that in public. Thank God we arent like that over here but news is blown out of proportion I think. Personally, wouldnt bother me but can understand how some parents and maybe older generation might feel uncomfortable about it. Especially the person sat between them

Apparently it was excessive kissing and was in response to public complaints.

How true hard to know, but while some parts of the US are very liberal, there are great tracts where attitudes to sex are very different so a lot will depend on where people are flying to/from.

Remember the top gear episode and car graffiti, while set up to some extent, I know of plenty of towns where I could believe this happening. Thinking of places were camo dungarees are standard attire and everyone owns a truck.

Think it would of been the "getting upset" bit, to cause the being put off the flight.

Actress, big diva strop?, Im guessing granted, but theres nothing worse than being stuck 7 miles up in the sky with nowhere to go when someones going nuts about something thats peeved them.

I also dont like to see passionate kissing in public, be it men or women. I have gay friends and the only time i saw any intimacy in public was for one to pat the other on the shoulder.

Im normally very irritable on a plane so this may have even annoyed me let alone the airline.

If it is a peck on the lips/cheek between lovers then I see no harm in it but if it was a full blown snog or a prolonged nuzzling of each other faces then the airline had every right to ask them to stop, and throw them off if they didn't accept it. Why do gays/lesbians continue to believe they deserve preferential treatment above straight men and women?

I think its up to parents when and if they decide to educate their children on same sex relationships. Its a hard enough task educating them on how they got here which usually is the first question they ask.

Procreation first intricacies and choices of how you find love and sexual satisfaction should come much later, in my opinion. You would shield your child from watching if a d*unken fist fight broke out on the same flight.

Its not up to others to tell parents their tolerance level where their child raising is concerned. That is exclusively a parents individual right too.

i think this is the key point here - would the airline have done the same if it was a man and woman kissing to the same extent. If the answer in no then they have every right to complain, of course remembering that this is the US and so they wuld have to fall in line with the law of whatever state they were in at the time

If the answer is yes, ANY couple kissing in the manner that this couple were would have been dealt with in the same way then there is nothing they can do about it

Hello! I beg to differ! I visit swinging clubs regularly, (as well as having meets at home) - have no problem at all with nudity, displays of affection and like to watch others having sex and being watched myself - ergo - not a prude! However, I don't think that overly passionate displays of affection in public are appropriate. That of course is my opinion! Would you be comfortable if your children were able to watch people having sex in public? Z

Because it wasn't a comparison. It was demonstrating another scenarios that people would not want their children to witness in the confines of an airplane where you can't get away from it. That was the point. In a plane you can't walk away which is what you would do in any other circumstances so in a situation where you are with lots of others whose _iewpoints you can't know you don't conduct yourself in a controversial manner that could make fellow passengers uncomfortable.

My parents would have been embarrassed too simply because of the era they were born in and Im not about to tell a parent to wind their neck in for their values. Would you? Just because its 2011 doesn't mean everyone was born in liberated times.

I think this case hinges on the appropriateness of the kiss- ie. how passionate it was?

If it was fairly chaste then fine but if it was sucking face then it was probably not appropriate, in a public place, regardless of the orientation of anyone concerned.
