or do you take it buy the horns get up , shower and literally drag yourself off to work..

Stay at home. Why would you want to spread it to other people? I also don't believe in struggling on unless there's absolutely no alternative.

We've got a new manager at work and it has been so refreshing that he sends people home if they cone in like that rather than letting them soldier on and infect us all.

i agree,

just had a few comments like why stay in (home with the bug)

some say like the bug lives on the heat and being warm , others say get out in the cold , cold shower even , to kill the bug / germs

As im extremely and very rarely ill , i just wondered on your views

I stayed home as it would be

1 stupid for try and work when sweaty and short of breath

2 makes the illness last longer

3 spreads the virus to fri3nds and colleagues

4 makes you type out in numerical form

I went back to work after the Xmas/New year break on wednesday. By 11am i felt that sick and ill, i just had to come home. Today is the first time since then i have been able to get out of bed and feel well enough to stay out of bed.

I wouldn't want to wish this on my worst enemy and no way would i have wanted to pass it on to my work mate.

Bacteria multiply in warm moist conditions but opening your bedroom window will ensure a change of air. Once you're infected no amount of cold showers will make you better or kill any bacteria in your system but it will wash them off your skin.

There are many quack remedies put about and in my opinion most of them are just that...quackery. There's no substitute for rest, fluids and paracetamol.

Thought germs were killed off by heat, that's why we get a temperature/fever.

The Town by The Cross

I was brought up by someone from the generation that believed that you did not take time off from work. That generation also believed that a cold was not a good enough reason to be off work.

I adopted those beliefs for many years and never take time from work.

What a fucking dickhead thing to believe in.

Im now older and slightly wiser.

THAT generation didn't get sick pay. A day or two from work meant that it was difficult to provide food for families.

A day or two from work gave you a bad reputation and the opportunity for bosses to get rid of you as you did not have any protection. It also meant that you wouldn't get 'picked' to work if you were in the kind of employment that practised early style zero hours.

People have fought long and hard for workers rights and an N.H.S.

If you have a cold stay off and get well.

These days I tend to believe that your life is your own. Businesses have a duty of care and they should be able to get along just fine without you.

Mind you .... I HATE working with people who are off at the drop of a hat and wouldn't take their side in a dispute.

I thought i was coming down with the above so as it was taking hold i rang in work as it was our first couple of days back but thankfully its not got too bad, I'm still bunged up but not got as bad as i thought.

Vitimin C 1000mg a day and the cheap cold and flu tablets, thats my remedy and if i go off tea i have hot water and a teaspoon of honey.

Hope you're feeling better and my answer is stay away from work, you don't get thought better of

NHS advice is to stay at home and rest. Drink plenty of fluids.
