God that damn CB radio has a lot to answer for! Haha

Not been a user for about 20 years, but had several set ups, a ham international jumbo ssb was my biggest, and smallest was a Amstrad 901.

My dad used to have them in all his tractors for keeping in touch with family and the farm during harvest in the days before mobile phones. As kids we used to sneak in them when they were parked up and go through all the channels winding people up lol

i built one with my dad back in the 70's .... there were about 5 people on channel back then.... then blue peter went to the USA for their summer expedition and simon groom did a bit about citizens band radio .... after that it all kicked off and everyone wanted one. at that time it was 1-4 for a copy .... as soon as it became legal nobody wanted a cb anymore ... i had moved on up to dx rigs by then and pirate radio after that .... it was a cat and mouse game between our group and the dti .... the dti lost

That's a big 10.4 breaker, what's your 20?

Years ago lol. My brother is licensed for Ham radio, we had that with a huge silver rod in the garden...I never liked using it because of the channels being mixed up. I only ever used it on the normal frequency

I had one in the car and used to go the big meet on the Horseshoe pass every year...

Most nights we'd drive off into the mountains to see how far the signal would go

Great fun

Growing up, our next door neighbour had a big CB mast/aerial in his garden. He then moved onto Ham radio and the masts/aerials got bigger.

Just text my folks to see if the aerials are still in his garden, and they are and he is still a Ham radio enthusiast
