I am heading up into the loft, going to insulate the roof with Thermall reflective foil insulation, just a case of stapling it to the rafters, £14 a roll 7.5 Metres x 60cm hopefully save a few ££ on the heating bill, and make it a much cleaner nicer space to be in when your up their storing stuff.

What money saving jobs have you tried and do you think it was worth it in the end ??

Tried to fashion some new sex toys out of some old shoe leather, and a few Pringles tubes from Christmas

Saved me a trip to the charity shop, but my arse still smells like paprika

I do DIY stuff to save money. Then get the experts in to fix my fuck up.

I had to put a backing onto stairs up to my loft. I used cardboard from big boxes and papered over it. It worked coz it's for privacy only, saved a fortune on wood. XXX

I wanted to put new vinyl over my kitchen cupboards. I struggled to find anybody who'd actually done it. A handyman I knew said, "How hard can it be? I'll give it a go." Erm, no, if you're going to give it a go at a double-figure hourly rate, I might as well give it a go myself. So I did. And it wasn't as difficult as I thought. Looks brilliant and a fraction of the cost of a new kitchen.

I do all my own electrical work either domestic or appliances. I am qualified electrician so don’t start. For example the oven packed in last year. It needed a new element and fan. Call out an electrician and it’s at least 150 before anything’s done. Sourced the parts 75 pound and took about an hour to fit. Dryer went few months back. A bracket holding the drum broke. eBay cost 17 odd pounds bit fiddly but job done.

well if you don't have a go you will never learn. I put up a load of new panel fencing in the front and back garden last year, I had never done any before, I bet it would have cost a small fortune to get someone round to do it for me.
