old video & cassette tapes

We got hundreds of both, what do you do with them?? are they any use to charities? are they worth anything or just dump or recycle them??

Dump and recycle them ..can't see them making a comeback like the vinyl did ..glad we kept our vinyl

Charity shops might take audio cassettes (my local Oxfam have a selection), but last time I tried to get rid of videos they wouldn't take them.

Certain Video and Music cassettes can be worth money, although it’s usually obscure/rare stuff. Ebay completed listings would give you an idea if you are curious to check them

I recently bought a 2nd hand VCR and there are a few selling, so people still use them. Why pay a fortune to have old movies transferred? And some might want to keep their old wedding tapes and the like. What the value of old blank tapes is I dunno but there is some kind of market out there.

there’s no real value in them unless they are a rare release.

i threw away over 300 vhs tapes about 5 years ago, charity shops don’t want them cause they can’t sell them on, it’s a dead format now.

thanks for all the advice, someone mailed me suggesting an old folks home, so called a few and found one that really want them all, so all good.... i'm rid of them and they can use them.... win all round
