Do you love your home? Is it the kind of house you dreamt off?

I adore my little cosy pixie palace. If I won the lottery, yeah, I'd move to a little farm in the middle of nowhere, but only because I could. I live by sea, close to hills and forests, shops and my neighbours are lovely. I've got a lovely garden full of all things pretty and fragrant, and some s that need sorting, but I'll get there! Couldn't wish for anything more.

No I hate living here. Hate hate hate!

I live in a studio apartment (basically a room with a dividing wall) which when I took on 3 years ago after becoming homeless.

It's not my home. It's just somewhere I keep my stuff and sleep.

I need to move but deposits/fees and rents here in Birmingham are (like much of the country) ridiculously unaffordable. It is also very very unlikely that I will ever be able to bid for a local authority property because I have so few points as I am single with no dependents.

Even when I was homeless they couldn't offer me temporary accommodation because I work and couldn't afford to pay the rents that temporary accommodation charge/ temporary accommodation landlords wouldn't accept me because I wasn't in receipt of housing benefit.

Anyway, I digress. Having said all of that, I am extremely grateful that I do have a roof over my head. For that I am truly thankful.

I'd like a little house with a garden. I miss having an outside space so much. However, I have recently acquired an allotment so happy days.

Difficult one - its really quiet here, only see our neighbours twice a year at most, no one overlooks us particularly, on 2 sides we have fields all of which we love, but we'd also really love a detached house so we can play music a little louder, and use the surround sound a little louder without the worry of disturbing the neighbours.

It would also be nice to be in walking distance of a pub and shop, not on top of them.

The house itself - we're slowly redecorating and we wouldn't give up our bedroom.

So I guess all in all we're fairly settled and satisfied here this is home.

I'd move to the Isle of Skye or Cornwall. My current home is not mine and was a new build when bought, it has no charachter features, and i like houses with charachter and large windows for lots of natural light.

It is hard around birmingham it can be very expensive. Im in a similar position where I live however i try and save slowly to build a deposit for my dream home.. oh how i miss having bbqs in my garden!

I had home and land and worked my fingers to the bone and was never particularly happy.... So I walked away, live as a free spirit on open road and my vehicle is my house and I love her.... All them bills gone????

We LOVE our home. A 3 storey former georgian dairy. Its an ongoing process and will take time and money but its our perfect place.

It's took years to get our house the way we wanted it, love it. If we had to change anything it would be our neighbour to the left of us. On the other side Brenda & Clive are lovely

I love my home, got an excellent workshop in the garden where I can create stuff, also got some woodland a few miles away where I can play with my tractor and chainsaw without annoying people.

All that's needed to improve it is a moat and drawbridge

It’s a great home. It is actually in need of a bit of renovation as all the decorating was done, except for 3 rooms, that have recently been decorated, between 10 and 15 years ago. I’d love a new kitchen but it’s a big expense and with other current financial commitments it will have to just do with a facelift. The garden also needs an overhaul as it is a bit shabby in parts, so that’s my work for the Spring. Eventually I’d like to retire to somewhere warmer and by the sea. Preferably where I could spend the whole day naked without anyone batting an eyelid.

My house currently is my favourite of all the ones i've had, but there is tonnes of work needed on it. I have big plans for it but they'll never get done

I did the same,loved my bus,then I switched to a sited caravan. I saved a shed load of cash,£50 a week which included electric. Like you said...BOOM...no more bills. I'd recommend it to anyone who's wanting to save up. Why pay all that in rent and then the bills for a flat...its madness.

I first saw my home when I was in my teens. Walking past it on a date I told the girl I’d buy it one day at which she laughed at me.

In the summer I decided that I wanted it and made the owners an offer which I’m pleased to say they accepted.

It’s about 80% of the way to being completely renovated, changed it from 6 bed to 4, changed the layout so the back is like a kitchen/lounge area but my favourite is the master bedroom as it looks right onto the sea.

Lots of hard work has gone into getting this and for me it’s my example of never giving up on what you want.

As an aside, did anyone see house of our time on bbc2 last night. My first auction purchase was about 2 mins walk from the house being featured, wonderful part of the city now but will be interesting if they cover the red light area that was on its doorstep!

I sold my home of 10 years in Oct last year and am currently waiting for a new build property to be finished - the developers are behind schedule

Can't say I'm overjoyed at buying a new build (as mentioned above, no character and pretty plain) but it will suit my needs for the next year or so and should be easy to sell on when I do find that perfect place to call home again.

No I hate where I live at the moment... I'm in a shared house with no community spirit.. so can be very lonely. It part of my journey to a new life so I suck it up and deal with it...

However I am moving to a new house this month which will be my own space and let me have my son stay with me. I will be very happy once that can happen.

I like my house, it’s been adapted for my sons so it’s a bit of a mish mash of rooms downstairs and I’ve gained a bigger kitchen through that but except for needing to decorate rooms it’s a good home for us x

I have lived in London all my life and love my place. City life has been amazing.

However...

I love the outdoors with lot's of green countryside. Have always wanted to have a mixture of both so I recently moved into my 2nd place

Luuuuuuuuuurve it!!

Everything is accessible from the Midlands. Can easily get to the South and stay there at my place. The North aint too far either. If I had the finances I would have made the move much sooner.

I am still exploring new area and looking for all the outdoor fun activities. Can't wait for summer time whoop whoop

Having said that:

Scotland... now that is on another level for living. Would be perfect.

I absolutely love my house. It's a big Victorian house with the high ceilings and huge windows that I'd always dreamed of. Only bought it two years agoish so it's not quite where it wants to be but it's getting there slowly - I'm trying to do a project at a time. I feel very lucky.

In the future I'd like to move back to Aberdeenshire or Hertfordshire and have a house like I grew up in, the latter I think I will be priced out of sadly.

Just a little rented flat for me.

But the rent is affordable, I'm not in arrears and I feel settled where I live for the first time in ten years. Added to that, I live quite literally across the road from the sea.

After my divorce I bought my house in a "nice" area to allow my daughters to be near their dad and stay in the same school. It was never intended to be my forever home, as I'd rattle around in it once the girls left.

It's increased by £650k in 16 years. I'm in the process of renovating with a view of putting it on the market at easter.

I was looking to move to Cambridgeshire or Suffolk but my eldest and her family have just moved to south Wales so I'm now looking in Oxfordshire to make it easier to get to Wales and back to London and Kent for my other two daughters and friends.

Exciting times ahead.

I love my house, we moved when child no 3 came along and we outgrew our other place. I loved it there, it was quirky.

If we could we'd take out the whole wall and extend out to give us a massive kitchen space.....id love an island....and go into the loft. But that's £££'s so will have to wait.

It's not my ideal though, thats on the Suffolk coast somewhere!

Hiding in the shadows

We moved into our place in May 2016.

Hadn't previously had anything done to it in over 40yrs.

Had to have it totaly rewired & central heating fitted.

Now going through room by room modernising & redecorating, wetroom done, kitchen started.

It may take another couple of years to finish completely, living in a chaotic building site, boxes & stuff everywhere.

But it will be worth it.

We both love our home, it’s no mansion but it’s our little piece of the world.

I’ve been renovating the bathrooms for a while now, you can’t rush these things !
