Edinburgh

All links to Liverpool & Millibands speech are down.

He's speaking live to the conference hall only.

A portent of things to come?

Without being political about it, you look at the guy and just know he's never going to be Prime Minister, he just doesn't look the part.

They should have given it to his Bruv, he looks Prime Ministerial.

Love the way political parties spend oodles on P.R, marketing, focus groups, media etc and still in this day and age fall down at the very simple hurdle of "Is this guy electable?"

The political machine and it's machinations out done by the simple lack of vox pop about the guy by those commuting on the Clapham Omnibus.

i must admit, seeing ed balls yapping on with himself yesterday did make me realise that they may have the wrong man in place at the top.

i might not agree with what he said but at least he has 'some' presence, whereas ed milliband comes across as a spineless drip who can be easily manipulated.

he always looks like he is about to cry.

he'll be in place til things 'get serious' before the next election and then will be replaced by someone with more substance & presence

My daughter who goes to Liverpool Uni just posted the following on facebook

Our lecture on Oct 6th is cancelled because my lecturers union is on strike. Ironically that was when we we're supposed to learn about the Conservative party

Agree.

But all that will happen then is the party will go into that election still tearing itself to bits over a bitterly fought leadership election and the 'new guy' won't have built up any trust or confidence within the electorate.

But not all go to good uni's. the majority go to ex polytechnics. In my eyes they don't count as uniiversities

At least now they're paying £9k a year for it they'll be taken seriously when they put in a complaint about lack of resources or shoddy research facilities. I'd kick up a merry old storm if I was paying that much and got brushed off when I complained.

A rod made can often be wielded on one's own back.

what is a 'good' uni ?

if you mean by 'good' one of the classic uni's like oxford, cambridge, york, manchester etc then they are only as good as the courses they offer.

may ex polytechnics offer courses that are more niche and specialist and can offer better prospects for graduates than someone who had studied 'classic' subjects.

if i was to employ a graduate i would look far more at the course they had studied than the uni they had attended.

someone with a logistics degree from huddersfield would be far more useful to me in terms of industry knowledge than someone with an english degree from manchester for example

anyway, sorry for hijacking ur thread wishy

i am in proper rant mode today. tuesday is becoming the new thursday !

Just because he can insert inane unusually shaped objects into his rectum it doesn't neccessarily mean he'll be a good PM. Why was that wierd boy doing these strange things at school anyway, he should have been learning how to be a good socialist.

He is apparently gifted with a very agile mind and its a shame his speech impediment may put some off from supporting him. It will be interesting to see how be flourishes over the next 12 months.

That was a shocker wasn't it. The devoted socialist who tore up Clause 4 of the Labour Party's core beliefs and gave us New Labour, exposed as a corrupt capitalist.
