Forgive me for my short little rant and I’m sure some people will take offence but you’ll jus have to start your own thread for that.

I was speaking to a lovely lady and all was going well and then........ in the space of one message she used the word ‘lush’ to describe her day at work , something about ‘bae’ and the fact her dinner was ‘nomnomnom’.

Should someone in their 40s be using such nonsense? Age regardless I hate it when I hear this nonsense.

I’m sorry to all who think I’m being daft, but no.....just no. Yes I’m old. And boring.

But come one..!!!! I mean WTF!

Parents should definitely monitor their kids activities on Facebook if they are young enough, or at least show an interest in their lives when older. What's your objection to that?

I agree whole heartily with this, my eldest son sent many, many pictures of ‘himself’ to girls before he was 16 and got in a lot of trouble for it, even having to go to the police station to be questioned.

He now isn’t allowed Facebook or snapchat because quite frankly he can’t be trusted, all parents should have some control over their child’s mobile phone, my son appears to be the most responsible child in the world, never getting in trouble and being a leader at school, yet there I was sat in a police interview room looking at a very scared boy not realising what he did was wrong. Did he learn his lesson? About 6 months later we went through his phone (like usual) and by his point we had let him have have a more up to date phone back with a camera etc and low and behold he was doing it again minus the pictures to someone much younger than him, this was just before his 16th birthday last year. Thankfully since he hasn’t done it (that’s when we shut all his accounts down apart from Instagram as he used that for school work taking photos for his photography course and his teacher could see them) and since then (as far as I am aware) he hasn’t done it since.

So absolutely you must keep and eye on your child’s social media, even the ones you think wouldn’t do anything.

Geeky x

On the subject of kids social media. Absolutely parents should follow their children's input to it and as importantly the stuff they're receiving.

If more parents were involved there would be fewer cases of on line bullying, fewer cases of on line grooming and fewer cases of down right stupidity.

No words offend me in isolation. The way they're grouped together and the intent behind them sometimes does. If important stuff doesn't offend you it's time to have a look at things if unimportant stuff offends you it's also time to have a look.

To pick a little at your opening post, lush/bea/nonmommon supposition helped form your opinion of someone. Was it their personality? Just curious.

"People are sitting on the edge of their seats waiting to be offended.."

And that offnds you, does it?

"It's political correctness gone mad" drives me mad. It's always wild-eyed ranting fuckers with no scientific data to back up their claim that whatever issue they're suddenly offended by has gone "mad." Gender-neutral bathrooms? Shut up, it's just PC gone mad. Ending corporal punishment in schools? Never mind the data on crime going down, it produced a generation of criminals. And you can't make a joke about minorities being stupid anymore. They should never have given women the vote. That's when it all started going mad.

Kirsty Alsopp thinks PC has gone mad because Ch4 asked her to stop calling everybody on her show darling. Because some people find it condescending. She can make a rail bridge across a river from a bit of flannel and a few twigs but stop using a word to be polite and considerate and not sound condescending? Fucking impossible.

Feminazi [feh-mi-nat-see] noun: Any woman who doesn't believe over 70% of MPs being men is based purely on merit, as men and Ann Widdecombe insist it should be whenever it's suggested they should have more women candidates.

Capable [kay-puh-bull] adjective: what men and Ann Widdecombe are just over 70% more of than women.

“Gets their first tattoo”? Really, I love mine - which has only just healed...it’s the 2Tone logo...because I sing karaoke under the name 2Tone. But then I also play silly puzzle games and love Harry Potter. Obviously have a multitude of issues then, the main one being I don’t give a flying fuck what other people think...comes with (im)maturity probably.

TBH that would annoy me in a person of any age - even my own children. But then again I’m so intolerant that even the term ‘lol’ winds me up (never yet have I laughed out loud at a comment with that after it - in fact I rarely even smirk!) - so I’m probably the wrong person to ask op!

Hardworking Taxpayers.

Used by politicians when they wish to get a Pavlovian reation from the public to the unemployed, the unions, the nurses, etc etc etc.

Hardworking? They arrive at work for 9am. They get a coffee and check Facebook. At 9.30am they send a couple of emails about the 10am meeting. At 10am they go to the meeting room, where they pour themselves a nice filter coffee (free) and grab a Danish pastry (also free) and chat with their colleagues about this hilarious meme they saw on Facebook about the unemployed scum.

At 11.30am they go back to their desks and send a couple of emails regarding what was covered in the meeting. Lunch at 12 noon in the subsidised company restaurant, where they discuss how the unions are ruining the country and thank goodness there's no union in this company.

Rinse and repeat for the afternoon, until they go home exhausted like a Victorain miner after a very hard day's work.

Offended is a bit of a strong reaction, but there are things I think sound odd coming from the wrong people. Some oldrr people use words like "lit" and "fleek" and I just think they're either not being serious, or they're trying way too hard.

Thanks. Not a farmer, just have a body clock that wakes me automatically after a certain amount of sleep, and I dozed off early last night. Oh and I also dislike the phrase "work hard play hard." I'll just take the playing thanks, wouldn't work another hour if I didn't have to. I don't have the Protestant work ethic.
