Parking eye!

Anyone on here had any problems and threatening letters from parking eye?

I over-stayed by 15 mins in Morrisons car park and have been constantly hounded by them and now been threatened court action.

I was under the impression so please correct me if I'm wrong that they can't do this.

Had one years ago from a service station and was told to ignore it so I did and nothing came of it.

Any advise would be grateful.

I’ve had similar I wrote to them with a receipt I had from an Aldi in hull and also picture of the signs they said were clearly visible but weren’t I told them that if they didn’t stop harassing me with threatening letters then I would be contacting my solicitor. The next letter I recieved said the charge had been dropped. If you were shopping in the morrissions I would go in and speak to the manager of the store and he will be it dropped. They are a nasty bunch of people and another money making racket

Contact them and get the gen. don't admit to anything yet, get some legal advice if you can.

Go back to the car park and read T&Cs.

I'm not going to paint a rosey picture, but if you were late then you got to pay. Sorry

I get that and yes I was late and yes it's my fault but threatening letters isn't on. I was advised to leave it which I did and it's a bit of a thing in the town that happens to a lot of people.

Most of their signs give a limit unless you were shopping in said store car park and they don’t advertise this so most pay up. If the limit is one and a half hours and your in the store for one and three quarters. Once you have the receipt to prove you were in store they can’t charge you no matter how long you were in store. Read the signs of your back thier xx

If you'd have paid when supposed to I doubt it would have been that expensive.

Threatening letters? Threatening what exactly? Court action because you didnt pay the fine for staying too long in a carpark that you shouldn't have.

If someone owed you money would you just leave it?

Thought it had been finally sorted in the courts and owners can only charge/fine for loss of revenue based on the parking space, length of overstay and how much they charge to park, if they do?

The original fine is usually £100 and then get it reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days

When they slap it on it says parking charge notice.

It is not enforceable by law.

It is not a penalty charge notice issued by Police, Wardens or Council.

The Town by The Cross

I feel for the shops when people just clog their car parks and make life difficult for actual customers.

Shops employ outside car parking operatives to empty their car parks of free loaders. It's a business.

You over stayed - you got caught - you took bad advice ( from who ? ) Now you are beginning to worry about going to court and paying a huge bill.

They are not threatening you. They are carrying out the actions that they said they would and which they clearly displayed on signs around their car parks.

All you have to do is accept the responsibility.

When I 'didn't pay' ... ( I thought I had but it turns out I hadn't ) Phone system thingy do dah .....

I thought ... Fuck it.... take me to court if you want. My debt got taken up by another company and I thought 'fuck you too,' .... They wrote a few times and then stopped. Not had a letter in a long time now.

If you hold out and lose.. don't blame me

I guess they had new 'easier' people to get money from.

The only people who can "fine" you are the courts.

Morrisons employ a company who pay to obtain addresses etc from the DVLA in swansea.

But this is as far as they can go,

they can bluster as much as they want, threaten you all they like, but they have absolutely NO powers of any kind.

Ignore them and they will eventually become bored and go away.

There are quite a few of these private companies. As I recall the tickets/letters they send you are classed as an invoice and not a fine. This being the case you're under no obligation to pay it.

They may hound you for a while and issue various threats but they'll stop after a while. I got one for parking my car in Maplins car park. I panicked a bit but checked up online and found the information regarding the legality of their invoices. I didn't pay and after a while they went quiet and I heard nothing more about it despite their nasty threats.

Look up Parking Eye on the web. If they're a private company either ignore them or tell them to go do one.

I’m being chased by a parking company since August who have now passed it onto their “legal experts”

Most of these companies are completely incompetent and are so easy to trip up over their own mistakes.

I’ve provided proof that I had a legitimate reason to enter a car park for 13 mins, they’re chasing me for £160.

My last letter from them informed me that they’re discussing the next course of action with “their client” which is also bullshit since they buy the debt from parking company and then it’s the “legal companies problem to get payment.

More than happy to go to court whilst they try get a CCJ against me.

Fred got a parking notice for not being parked in a correct bay, it was a new car park and he parallel parked in a row of cars. When he got back to the vehicle nd found the parking notice he binned it and we never heard anything more.

I'm not sure what I'd do, I'm siding with ignore it.

We have a retail park next to work and visitors and staff were parking in there, they now issue £100 on the spot fines if you leave the retail outlet, so I think it will get progressively more difficult to avoid paying.

You need to research it on google. Things have changed. Previously the advice was 'fuck it, they can't do anything'. I 'believe' it has changed after a High Court case.

Just for semantics mentioned above, it isn't a 'fine' , it is suposed to be a fee agreed when you accepted their contract when using their carpark.

It's really shitty though. Fight them, using the sound online specialist advice, and good luck.

Ps I dont think you would get a ccj anyway. If it went against you and you paid at court, no ccj is issued.

I worked for a hotel that used parking eye. They’re absolute twunts. They won’t ignore it.

However the company that the car park belongs to has the power to request that they cancel your ticket and to my knowledge parking eye cancelled every request I made.

My advice. Go to the store. Make up a sob story. At worst you’re in the same position as you are now. At best, it will be cancelled.

I got done by these. I bought a ticket for a car park and parked in the wrong bit. It was pitch black and couldnt see the signs (it was free previously). They took a pic of me showing me entering and leaving the car park (which showed it was pitch black). I stayed there 10 mins. I appealed, sent the pics and copy of paid ticket, and they they threw it out. Gave me the option of paying £60 or go to court and they would pursue their costs if I lost

Didnt risk it so paid up. So I paid £62 for parking in the wrong bit of the car park (wasnt disabled or parent with child bit). They are b#@%/!=#@!!!

I am waiting for one to plop on doorstep.

Went shopping on boxing Day near me Tesco car park next to outlet retail park.

Went into Tesco purchased some goods went to outlet park.

Tesco customers get two hours free.

I got back to the car with a minute or two to spare.

Before I could exit car park I stopped to let a lady cross at a zebra crossing.

Promptly followed by about ten more people going very slowly.

Excited car park possibly a minute or two over.

Panicking now!

Totally correct

It still has to go through court to be legally payable though. They might take you to court, they might not.

Until then you’re not legally bound to pay anything.

What a fuxkin ridiculous society we live in that a parking company hounds and hassles people for going over a time that they determine is the time allowed to go in to their tenants shops and spend our money.

Just downright bloody stupid, ridiculous, and high time we start to avoid these retailers, retail parks and supermarkets.

I went up against parking eye, and it took a lot of time and sweat but I won't. There's lots of advice on MoneySavingExpert and other website forums.

If you start a thread on these websites people will help you and there are letter templates etc.

I would suggest to not ignore it but if you have the strength, fight it.

They are, in my opinion, a nasty company. I see them in the car parks they manage, literally parked next to cars with forms in hand watching the clock, as the seconds, tick down to give them a ticket within the first minute they are overdue.

parked my van in town on a Saturday morning in a side road in a bay ( & paid the parking fee), went to work & returned 8 hours later to find it gone. I looked up at the post & the sign had been changed to no parking on a football match day, it wasn't even footie season, just a friendly that i didn't know about. so after a lot of phone calls & getting the mother in law to give me a lift i got it back from the [pound, £104 poorer. waist of time working that day!
