Are there such events? I’m surprised to not see these advertised as events ... ie just meet at a particular pub - no play, pure social and get to know you ..... or am I missing something?

Missing something. There are plenty.

Threads pop up when there’s one being planned - keep an eye out

There are plenty such events in South Wales

I actually organise a midweek one in Cardiff
