Cardio won't get over the obstacles!!! Around them maybe, but not over them!

Haven't done a Tough Mudder but have done quite a few other mud runs tho.

Tips?

1) Need to be able to run a bit but don't worry too much as the obstacles will break that up.

2) Bit of upper strength needed to pull yourself up on some things.

3) Sense of humour when stuck knee deep in foul smelling crap!

4) Don't worry about other people thinking your useless, they don't!! You, like them are having a go!

5) Finally, just go for it, as anybody and everyone will help you over the obstacles and give you support. The banter is well good and the sense of achievement when crossing the finish line is superb! Good Luck. X

Did TM last year, I did no training at all for it as I crashed my car 11 days before the event! However it was so much fun!

Have no idea what run I’m doing this year maybe rough runner again. Good luck.

It is possible to do it without running (I walked/jogged) and stamina is necessary. Some obstacles you can get round so if you can't lift your own body weight, it's not the end of the world. A lot need a group effort. Some like the mudmiles are just sheer determination.

Glad I did it in 2015 but not got the bug to do another one! Good luck and it's certainly an experience. Those ice skips...like being punched in the chest with cold!

I done a Spartan Race a few years back. Think they are on par with each other with regards to obstacles etc.

Was great fun!

Ooh that sounds fun.

I also really want to do the original tough guy. My dad did a few 8n his time so would be good to do one as he gets stuck in the mud watching lol

It does look fun one of the reasons I decided on it. Thinking a fun first one may be best to aim for rather than just a run/jog/walk.

I have looked at some of the tough mudder ones but they appear harder I may be wrong. Hopefully will encourage me to do more in the future (that is yet to be known though )

I’ve done 5 so far. Fitness wise, make a training plan and build up distance.

Off road running and doing a lot of hill sprints will be beneficial.

Find the steepest hill you can and do sets of timed sprints up and down.

Obstacle wise you’ll need a bit of upper body strength and good grip to climb and pull yourself over things so pull ups and chin ups are your friends.

The weather will have a big impact too. On a hot day the water obstacles are lovely but did one in freezing hailstones and it was horrible.

Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you’ll get to the end. Enjoy yourself and have fun!

Good luck!

I am but on the Sunday!

No tips as such. But it was the cold that i found so so tough last year. I'm going to look into alternative clothing this time round, if possible. But since everything gets soaked in not sure how well i can get around it

I usually wear all dri-fit clothing so it doesn’t hold water. Nothing cotton including socks.

Still can’t helped getting soaked wet through though!

They are great fun, hard but great. Get out there and train, have a plan but just take one day at a time.

Don't worry if you don't think you've done enough the crowd and the day itself will get you through it.

Best events I've ever done. Mmmm its got me thinking!!!!
