i doubt it's arbitrary, it's a concious choice that someone has made. And those choices are always going to mean some people are too young, too old, too short etc..

He creates a fresh profile each year, same pics etc, just puts his age back a year.

We've met him and hes at least 48, lol

But, I think the OP was getting at the fact that, he's unable to message certain people, due to them setting their age criteria filters.

You have no way of communicating to them that you're interested, even if they are / aren't.
