time wasters an rude !!!

we had a couple mail us several times wanting to meet, then we arranged a meet at ours this weekend with another couple that we had met before, then we dont hear off them so we mail them on saturday after noon and they mail back and say sorry mother had a fall, there daughter has to work so they cant make it and that the other couple coudnt make it eather because she had her monthly. All of this is very disapointing but fair enough, but then the other couple put a message up in the status the next day saying wow what an amazing night ho oh oh oh etc, now we dont like to moan but isnt this taking the pee a tad or are we being over sensitive? taking into account it was aggreed that we would do dinner for everyone and everyone stopped over at ours, you all know the ammount of time effort and expence this involves! the other couple didnt even reply to a text we sent them ? all seems very sad and unpleaseant.

I absolutely agree. I can't see your experience in any other light than that. Pick yourselves up, dust yourselves off and start all over again.... its all you can do really xxxx

Perhaps u would be better just meeting newbies for a drink first, and do the cooking dinner thing for couples u know well.

I know its disappointing being let down, especially at the last minute, but life can get in the way of having fun, its just one of those things. Best to not let it get to you.

Maybe play differently, so that if things do get cancelled its not as big a deal??

Maybe you have yourselves to blame for over complicating a meet?

Why didn't you meet this new couple on your own first?.....in affect you have acted as matchmakers for your friends, who seem to have whisked this new couple out from under your noses....could it be your own doing?

We had the same this weekend, we arranged a social meet with 8 couples and 2 single guys who all confirmed they would be coming on saturday.

we laid on some food and nibbles and sure enough only three people turned up and nothing from those that didnt.

Agreed. Some people do over book themselves tho and on the day go with the meet that is most appealing/convenient etc with little thought for those who are let down.

well hell I'd say you're better off they didn't show but to do that to you is quite childish

That is just plain rude. We would never just not turn up. Always phone or send a text with our apologies.
