I personally don't believe in any form of God. I have no respect for any religion. I do however hold great respect for what a religion means to each person (except the twisted version that people use to kill for).

One example, long story short, I saw someone enter a room up some stairs in front of me in an old abandoned house on a top third floor. Went in the room and no one there with nowhere to hide. And turn to see all my friends were following in behind me. And yes I was sober!

Defo science. However the two may be intertwined. There could very well be something else that science cannot explain.

When you get to the quantum level things start to become very weird. The reality we observe isn’t the reality that science says should be there. I’m not at all religious but I have become spiritual for sure. There’s something else going on that science can’t explain.

However the way science works is the way to do it. Have a theory and run experiments to prove or disprove. Unbiased based on evidence.

Religion just requires blind faith which is lazy and stupid if you ask me. I think people who are religious gain a sense of peace and community so there’s probably benefits beyond just believing in a man in the sky.

I work in scientific research. Science is not clear cut at all. There’s a lot of opinion, gut feel, and even faith involved...and most importantly, scientists either exaggerating their research in order to get more funding and/or for career purposes, or speaking outside their area of expertise...so we should be careful in accepting any scientific “truth” pedalled to us by the media.

I'm very much undecided, the way I see it if there was a big bang then the whole world is just a big accident and I think nature is just too beautiful and perfect in the way it works to be an accident.

Now religion, do I believe there was once someone calls Jesus that claimed to be the son of god? Yes, but I don't think the bible is completely a true reflection of events, but I don't think it's meant to be literal either. I do think there is something greater just not sure what but I don't think it's what we are told God looks like.

The scientific method is the best we have for understanding how the world works but it doesn't prove anything it disproves things.

The best reason the believing in god that I have heard is pascals wager.

I do think Buddhism is much more practical and meditation has been shown to change the brain.

I’m not religious in any scientific shape or form. I don’t believe in a god. I don’t believe in the afterworld. I do believe however in the theory that suggests there was a Big Bang and that from that point onwards the universe as we comprehend it expands to the point of collapse..... and then everything compresses to the point of explosion... a Big Bang if you will.... and then the cycle repeats....

Science may allow us to investigate the many facets of religion and religions could utilize the approach to help evaluate any veracity of their system.

I think tribal leaders co-opted religions to help control their people, especially as societies grew larger. Religious belief systems appear to probably use everyday human cognitive abilities,rather than a special gift. There appears no particularly deep bed of evidence for the existence of any of the supernatural beings, despite the huge volumes of people and enormous time periods.

I'm happy to devote more of my life to science than religion.

'Supernatural beings' is not a phrase I would use.....put it this way, there is a massively 'deep bed' of spiritual evidence for spiritual laws and realities of all kinds, including a great deal of physical evidence which, whilst scientifically documented, is thus far not understood.

If I try and measure radiation with a slide ruler I might not find any evidence.

Religion was just early man's uneducated simple minded attempt of trying to understand life and where we all came from before we had science to back things up, and the whole "god, a higher power made us" would have been there only reasonable explanation because what else are you going to think after looking up at the stars for years with no knowledge or understanding of anything ever. Why people still believe in this stone aged nonsense blows my mind, yes its nice to have hope and it can change peoples lives around for the better but still... c'mon use your head

I have alot more trust in science but i dont take everything as fact at times simply because just like humans science constantly evolves and advances so stuff we have known as fact change in certain cases anyone familiar with graham hancock will know as a example, everything we thought we knew maybe we dont and i like that we may not know it all. Very interesting guy

Today I have stopped believing that chickens are the all powerful overlords of the universe.

Religion is not and was never dumb. It was originally an incredibly clever construct to bind groups of people into societies. After the creation of heaven and hell, there was even control after death.

Problem is people. If we become actively part of a group we automatically turn on other groups. The group is fairly unimportant, it could be your village, tribe, football team, religion, skin colour whatever. This instinct is no different to animals marking and protecting their territory, even plant's do it.

Should we ever discover life on another planet we will instinctively distrust them, try to feel superior to them and probably end up fighting them.

It's a bit depressing, but that is nature for you.

As for science which I am also currently refusing to believe in, there are 3 kinds of all branches of science. The done stuff e.g. the chemistry and physics involved in making a match stick catch fire and burn.

The thought of stuff e.g. gravity, we kind of get it. But not 100% sure about it's entire scope, or how to make it.

And the conjecture e.g. string or membrane theory, where mathematical models may cause thoughts to go in a direction but actual proof is probably well beyond our ability, but if it is proven we then embark on a new science to figure out how to use it.

Most progress from evolution through to chopping up atoms to make energy works on the oops principle. The true art of science is to dip your toe into the cool inviting liquid and see if it feels good or burns your foot off before diving in. We don't always get that one right...

Perhaps I will continue to believe in chickens for another day or two, just in case...
