Where would you invest 50k if you were looking for a good return over ten years, no crypto currency.

"Gold "
will gold hold its value? I know it’s always been a failsafe but I’m not sure anymore, look at oil...it’s showing signs of risk

50k would easily get you a deposit or maybe two for two properties to let.

Gold is the one that tends to stand the test of time.

A couple of years back I bought a load of silver while it was low, sold it all when it went back up to around £14 per oz, most who stack silver are holding out for the £30 per oz again.

An ounce of gold 10 years ago was about £380 now your looking at over £1000 an ounce.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

If you don't need it quickly then gold is probably the safest option. You'd have to spend more on property and everything else is either really low returns or risky.

"Club together with friends and buy a property in a Greater London borough. "

You'd need a minimum of 8 friends to get started.

"Land for development "

Agricultural land is approx £20k per hectare....land with planning permission can hit £6M per hectare...costs and risk involved, like with everything, but the government is currently pushing through housing development so if in the right location now is the time.

Property seems the winner but the new laws are getting very strict, rightly so, but not all landlords are bad. Interesting reading, appreciate the input so far.
