I saw Starlight Express when younger, in London, was bloody awesome!

I have also seen Tommy, Cats, Whistle Down the Wind, Les Miserables (all in London except Tommy, which was in Cardiff).

Jonathan Wilkes was in Tommy and i have to see, he was great!

My least fave was Les Miserables although it does have two of my favourite songs in it - I dreamed a dream and Send him Home.

I have seen loads. Phantom of the opera is my favourite. I love the dramaticness of it. Whislt not technically a musical (it does have songs though) I'm going to see Book of Mormon with a fb next weekend which im mega excited about!!

Way too many to choose from.

Joseph will always have a special place in my heart as it was the first one my parent tool me to see and Jason Donovan was in it.

The only one om not keen on is phantom.

I'm desperate to see Hamilton though.

Phantom of the Opera is my absolute favourite, before it had even finished I knew I'd want to see it time and time again.

We always take the children to see the shows too and their favourite is Les Miserables. Our youngest has even asked to go again for his Birthday next year.

I remember taking my son to see chitty chitty bang bang for his 3rd birthday. We were on the front row he sat mesmerised the whole time. The cast came off the stage in parts of the show they said they were amazed he never moved

I saw Cats a long time ago, musicals aren't really my thing but I certainly didn't complain when the gorgeous ladies dressed as cats came out into the audience and climbed over our row

Jeff Wayne's musical War Of The Worlds is an epic thing to see live though, Justin Hayward was still in it when I saw it, what a voice!

I saw Hamilton on Tuesday......WOW, if you've got tickets then you are in for a very rare treat.

I LOVED it. Can't stop singing all the songs, did some background research when I got home and understand the context so much better now. Lin manuel Miranda is a freaking genius.

I've already downloaded the CD to my ipod and have been merrily singing along for days.

The hype for me, was absolutely not exaggerated in the least.

and the book of mormons is my 2nd favourite musical.

I tend to have fave songs. Googoogaga for Hairspray's "You Can't Stop the Beat" and Rent's "Love Me or Leave Me," which was covered brilliantly by Amber Riley and Lea Michele:

Way too many to mention. I've read through the thread and there are two I haven't seen/heard and one that I think is over-hyped and only has one good song. I love all the others with West Side Story slightly ahead of the pack.

I've got tickets for Hamilton and I'm looking forward to that in April. If you get a chance, go and see The Grinning Man. We went last week and it was much, much better than I expected. The teenagers (boys) also came out saying it was the best thing they'd seen. It may be time to get them tickets for Book of Mormon.

West Wales and Cardiff

I’ve been in about 30 amateur musicals over the years.

I my humble opinion, West Side Story is by far and away the best in terms of the music and orchestration. Bernstein was amazing and Sodheim’s words are too.

Fiddler on the Roof is great too - The Sabbath Prayer is beautiful.

Nothing else really comes close for me.

I agree with you. I saw Cats and sat there thinging WTF!! There was literally one good song, the rest was crap.

As a change from the standard musicals, it’s worth seeing these two:

Sunny Afternoon (about The Kinks) and All Or Nothing (The story of The Small Faces and Steve Marriott). Both have fantastic music and are a great night out.

Also on a slightly different theme, The John Wilson orchestra performing songs from the MGM musicals is a fantastic show . . .

Reminds me of my Mum, it was her favourite.

And my Dad was a ringer for John Travolta in his day with his ice blue eyes and quiffed jet black hair fashionably styled with Brylcreem haha.

Used to watch it every Christmas with her, and she'd always comment on how much of a looker Dad was. Bless him, was going bald yet still styled what little he had in a quiff

Totally love musicals and will get to the theatre as often as possible. I've seen so many it's hard to pick a favourite but I'd have to probably say West Side Story which I was lucky to get tickets last time it toured and it was bloody amazing live on stage!!

My dad though Hamilton was about Lewis Hamilton

We all laughed at him but he then pointed out there have been musicals about sports people before... I'll let him know about this so he doesn't feel so bad lol

I adore a musical. Not much of a Lloyd Webber fan though so I avoid those.

Rent, Wicked and Cabaret have been my favourites to see. I’m a Rocky Horror superfan and always go to see the production whenever possible.

Absolutely dying to see Hamilton too.

My OH loves musicals and has been to most of the ones mentioned. ‘Phantom’ is probably his fave. He went to see ‘hair’ recently; the cast, audience, and staff were all naked. He loved it

I was really tempted to go and see Hair. The tunes are great and it would have been an experience.

West Wales and Cardiff

Not a huge fan of Miss Saigon, but, fairplay, the Broadway version that has been running in Cardiff recently had some quality sauciness in the scenes set in brothels
