I was under the impression that you can't have a shed in your front garden without permissions etc etc. Am i right or wrong?

My Mum's just put a huge shed/summerhouse in hers as the council wouldn't give her permission for a conservatory

I remember Peter mandlesons house in Hartlepool had a garden shed in the front garden a few years back.

But he was Northenden Ireland secretary

And said she'd had two armed coppers in it...

I think it will probably be ok but it should be easy enough to check with your local authority. We're not Switzerland.

It depends on the local regulations, whether the area is classified as open plan the size and type of construction.

no sheds or greenhouses can be built in a front garden

side or reverse they can be built to any size by prohibited builds

however it also depends on how much a neighbour is good or bad

if they complain or not if they complain you can be made to remove it due to the old regulations if they dont and been up 4 years then its different

if you build a shed or greenhouse or buy one and place it in the front garden all depends if your neighbour kicks up a fuss about it complaining to the council

if they dont for 4 years it can stay put as under prohibited build

for greenhouses its the reflection in the front window comes under nuisance regs

however an old shed can be repaired or maintained as long as you keep it as original like for like if its already prebuilt in the front garden

old brick sheds or old toilets front gardens can be repaired and maintained once you remove the structure it cannot be rebuilt

just noticed I quoted a shed build a bike store/tool store is fine just not a shed build

but only enough space to cover the bike with the roof like these below

Do believe its down to "proximity to the highway" ie how close it is to the road. We had this battle with the council.

The man opposite me has a bigish green metal shed in his front garden for housing his motorcycle. He didn't get permission for it. XXX

so if they can't make you move it after 4 years, build it then take a pic of it but set the date on your camera for 4 years earlier and theres your evidence

Haven't read the thread but it's to do with size I thought. If any of the panels are over 8 ft x 4 ft then you need permission.

Stick it on wheels and you don't as it's no longer permanent

At the house I'm buying they had a shed on the drive for their motorbikes which was moveable.
