Special for Christmas dinner?

I pushed the boat out this year and was adventurous as in i done my first cauliflower cheese....all made from scratch with cheese butter milk and flower.

Also I roasted the parsnips and sprinkled some of the cheese over them...and believe it really works

Oh and I pushed the boat out and ditched the tesco basic gravy and went for the classy bistro one

So did you do anything new? And pigs in blankets don't count

I marinated two legs of lamb overnight in a jamaican jerk style mix. Then roasted them with carrots and onion and garlic and duck fat roasted potatoes. Oh, and purple sprouting broccoli and Apple, red cabbage and balsamic reduction too. And gravy from the trivet juices... I think that was all of it

For the first time in 35 years I did not cook Christmas dinner

Due to changes in the family, there was only 2 of us, not the usual 12.

So this year Meg decided she would do the dinner, and it was fantastic

I did the same although because my kids were off to their Dad’s. Thinking I might do it that way in future.

We had 7 hour slow roast lamb, roast potatoes, parsnips, beetroot. Cheesy cauliflower and leeks (couldn’t decide between them), stuffing, pigs in blankets, broccoli, carrots and Yorkshire puddings.

I had bubble and squeak today and it was gorgeous

I prefer a simple meal for christmas day instead of spending it within the kitchen.

then theres space for snacks as its a light dinner, instead of feeling bloated.

though if it needs to be done, I wont let the lady do it all as I will muck in and help all day.
