Manflu/ colds / laryngitus sympathy thread!

I've lost my voice

I went out last night thinking I was recovered from the cold I've had all week and have woken up this morning unable to even croak

My FB coming over later is in for a treat with my Darth Vader impression

Can I have some sympathy please?! And any ideas as to how to recover my voice in the next few hours would be very welcome!!

Who else is suffering with the dreaded manflu or similar out there? Let's have some solidarity! Xx

Much appreciated.

Strepsils are about as good as I can suggest for a sore throat.

Thanks Mickey - may try that idea out later if my friend still fancies me despite my croaky huskiness

Probably - I'm knocking back the Day Nurse liquid and a few tubes of Soothers

It's so unfair being ill at this time of year!!!

I feel your pain, Beaver! It's party season and this party princess hasn't been able to party this week because of these damn germs!! I missed the abfabs Xmas party and also the HDZ on Thursday I really wanted to go to (as I am never normally childfree on Thursday's!). I'm fed up of feeling bleurgh!!!

"And any ideas as to how to recover my voice in the next few hours would be very welcome!"

Steam inhalations; a large bowl of just boiled water, head over bowl, towel over head. Breathe in through the nose, and out from the mouth, until you can't stand the heat any longer (~5 minutes). You can add menthol or eucalyptus, if you wish, but steam is fine by itself.

Aspirin 600 mg plus Paracetamol 1000 mg every six hours, unless allergic.

Lots of fluid.

Hot toddys: hot water, fresh lemon juice, honey, cinnamon, gloves and a good slug of whiskey. Consume whilst hot.

Duvet time.

Try to avoid coughing; coughing bangs the vocal cords together and makes them more irritable.
