A bit of a change from the sex chat etc.. What does everyone make of the revelation last weekend that after 70 years of denials, the US pentagon admitting that it has been spending $22 million per year on UFO research, and for the first time releasing UFO footage shot by the US navy?

All it says is they've spent money researching the reports. To try to establish if the sightings are alien or from potential human agressors with newer tech than the US has.

It doesn't suggest they believe or have evidence of aliens.

Also, they would naturally be investigating any unidentified airborne or space objects as part of their defence programme.

Wasted money.

Without doubt, in my humble opinion, there is life out there. But, they definitely haven't visited us, the earth is an inconsequential planet orbiting an extremely unremarkable little Sun. We'd be difficult to be even be found in the enormity of the Cornish, let alone visited then ignored, save the hillbillies who've being anal probed obviously!

yes me too.. $100 million is a lot of money to spend on something we've been told for 70 years doesn't exist, even though during the second world war , numerous pilots reported seeing ' foo Fighters ' . The US thought it may be secret German weapons until the Germans and Japanese reported similar sightings

the idea is this.

They've got reports of Unidentified Flying Objects.

Question: Are they alien, or are they Russian planes using some advanced technology.

I'm sure the US military would be interested if either Russians or Aliens are wizzing round the earth. So they've spent some money finding if either have any credibilty.

Not about travelling to another part of the universe.

The Pentagon’s project, called the Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program, was reportedly established in 2007 to investigate unexplained aerial phenomena that appeared to be using novel propulsive, hovering, or otherwise advanced technologies.

But they know that when they mention UFO's and when they say things like:

"it was travelling faster than anything I've ever seen, and it just accelerated away"

They know that the logical presumption that most people will make is - aliens, not Russians.

It doesn't matter what other people presume. It's their job to establish if the Russians have technology to do that. It's their job to do some investigation if it actually happened or was just a pissed up hill-billy.

I think everyone should search youtube for interviews with Captain Bowyer a British Airways pilot with over two decades flying experience , telling of the experience he had that was verified by radar , passengers and other pilots, as part of their research. As well as the Zimbabwe school children, who witnessed something pretty strange . This was investigated by one of the leading harvard professors who visited them and filmed what they had to say about their experiences.

I think it was actually started by democratic senator acting on behalf of hundreds of his constituents who'd reported seeing the phenomenon and wanted the government to give them an answer to what it might have been.

I have had two such first hand experiences. One was whilst airborne over Bristol in a helicopter, at night, in the late '90's. Bristol air traffic reported an unknown contact on a conflicting course and when we altered course to avoid it, it changed too, to maintain the confliction. This happened several times before it disappeared from radar altogether. It was never resolved. The other was close to RAF Fairford, when a dozen of so people including 2 USAF Police officers witnessed coloured lights moving in an erratic manner and doing manoeuvres not possible for known aircraft types.

With much more aircraft being in the sky than ever before it's no wonder there are literally thousands of sightings from civil aircraft to military.

Unfortunately due to being labelled as some sort of fruit cake by some parts of the public people find out much harder to report them than they did several decades ago.

The government would be in the wrong for not investigating...

If sufficient people are reporting unexplained phenomena and the government chose to ignore it, there would be criticism.

More often than not, research done on behalf of the Military can often end up having civilian applications down the line.

I'm agnostic on the subject of UFO's mind. Most things have a logical explanation.

My view on this.

A ufo is an “unidentified flying object” not necessarily a flying object containing aliens from another world.

UFOs are real, but just new test air craft that world governments are cutting about in.

I think you need to do your research. The pentagon has now come out admitting that Ufo's exist, that materials discovered have not come from earth , and have released footage from the US navy. You are simply repeating the line pushed during the so called ' truth embargo ' that has lasted for over 70 years. We're now in a different era ..

"What of all the conspiracy theories - aliens, area 51, fake moon landings etc - were started by the government to distract from what's REALLY going on?.

What's really going on?.

Tens of thousands of reports and sightings from around the globe, video, radar, multiply witnessed from high ranking military personal to civil aviation pilot's to police to ordinary citizens most of whom have no personal gain to make and an awful lot of ridicule from some small closed minded bigots"

Tens of thousands of 'reports' which you clearly take on face value.

Riiiiiight!

Somebody could tell you a 'pilot' says the world is flat and you'd believe it, even though you have no personal evidence.

I believe alien life probably exists somewhere and they might travel the universe.

What I find difficult to believe is that they are able to travel at light speed, evade radar and telescopes, yet manage to get spotted by someone wandering along on a night time walk. Very odd.....

.

Actually this particular case invoiced the eye witness testimony of a dozen or so high ranking very credible military personal, video, radar observation.

For two weeks in that area radar had tracked several times crafts that were "interacting" with navy warships and planes, this particular moment was caught after about ten scrambles to intercept in that two week period, the two planes which intercepted the craft reported it to be going from 80,000 feet altitude to hovering 50 feet above sea level in only a few seconds, it rotated and had no wings and on the ir camera seemed to be producing no exhaust gases, they had visible sight at close range for several minutes on a perfectly blue lovely weather day, the two pilot's with 1000s of hours flying experience said "in their opinion it was not of terrestrial origin" and broke all principles of physics and aeronautics that they currently use!.....

That is hardly called just taking random strangers accounts at face value!

If sufficient people are reporting unexplained phenomena and the government chose to ignore it, there would be criticism.

More often than not, research done on behalf of the Military can often end up having civilian applications down the line.

There are aliens = Cover up.

It would led to either why are we only being told now, or the governments are making it up to hide a darker truth.

Somebody could tell you a 'pilot' says the world is flat and you'd believe it, even though you have no personal evidence..

Point well made! So many people still in denial when it comes to this subject. .

When you investigate something and can rule out all other explanations whatever remains however illogical is the likely explanation

Thank you, Sherlock! .

Actually that's a Mulder quote

The truth is out there, but are the masses ready for the truth? .

Being perfectly honest....I very much doubt it!!.

Technology evolves much faster than humans, were at a funny point in human evolution which is why we are where we are politically and maybe even spiritually, disclosure will either make us or break us

Full disclosure can't be far off

Full disclosure would bring nothing new to the table.

There are no aliens = Cover up.

There are aliens = Cover up.

It would led to either why are we only being told now, or the governments are making it up to hide a darker truth.

No one will trust any Government either way...."

Maybe so .. only time will tell.. So many people have closed minds about this. Anyone would think they've been programmed

It's finally proof that fools and money are soon parted. It was started by a senator who is a renowned UFOlogist, which is exactly the last type of person to listen to about extraterrestrial life.

Some people found it harder to believe the proram ended than that a lifeform gained the intelligence so advanced that they were able to desgin technology capable of travelling billions of light years across galaxies and upon eventually discovering other life in the universe, they decided to play a prank in a giant game of hide and seek, before abducting redneck hillbillies from remote woodland areas to perfom anal probes on them. The truth is up there.

The odds are high that there is intelligent life somewhere in the universe. But semingly not on this planet.
