Price range would be handy.

I really like the new entry models like the polo and stuff, think they are becoming such amazing value.

Been in a Prius Uber, think that was enough for me OP

Do you specifically want an electric hybrid?

Think so but open to suggestions... quite like the 2011 anniversary Prius seems as if we should all be thinking about electric

I’m probably not the best to suggest as our budgets are slightly different but from what friends have...

Kia gets a really good shout especially the suv one

Seat are great cars, Spanish VW and decent model range

Another always buy ex fleet cars. High miles but regularly maintained and have a lot of kit

Good luck and sure many will give more advise than I can

Seriously, worst car I ever had was a Prius. Build quality was poor, couple of mile range of lucky.

If you’re going to go the hybrid route at least get a plug in

"So I am looking for a new car... I am thinking Prius... yes Prius anyone got anything to say?"

In a few years time hybrids etc will be the only option so I'm enjoying normal cars while I still can.

Although I'm sure the government will get rid of the company car benefits on hybrids slowly as they'll lose millions.

I might be wrong but they don't usually lose money and not get it back somehow

Buckley North Wales

A good old Astra. Built in the UK. The basic 1.4 is straightforward and bullet proof. Thats why I love them.

Prius are meant to be environmentally friendly but their carbon footprint is awful when you consider where all the parts come from. Plus they aren’t as economical as they are made out to be.

High spec Golf 1.4 TSI, pretty nippy, very economical, good to drive. Much better than the Prius

We had Prius as a company car. We cheered when the piece of shit was replaced. It was the highest spec you could get, but a truly dreadful drive. Extremely uneconomical on long drives!

Must be unlucky as I’ve had a few German cars in the past and all been great. Even had a fantastic Alfa

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

Don't bother with a hybrid, false economy.

either go for a petrol with good economy or all electric..

Lugging those extra batteries offsets the saving a hybrid makes.

A 5 year old car probably is close to the life of the battery, I have heard it costs around £3000 to replace them, that's around 20,000 miles of fuel (based on today's cost in an average medium size car).

You still have a few years before we have to go all electric, by then the cars will be cheaper to buy and far better (hopefully fuel cell rather than elastictrickery)

Take a look at the Mazdas, the Mazda 3 is a mini version of the 6 and is really nice.. every gizmo and gimmick you could wish for (and a few you wonder what the hell they are for), reliable, economical and cheap to repair.

I think it can depend on what your used to driving in truth ...I went from an old bmw 3 series 04 plate ,to an 09 focus ...couldn’t stand the focus ,build quality ,ride etc ...I think you have to be careful as to not let the age of a car deflect from the good and bad points ....now personally I’d rather have a bmw or merc 5-6 older than a ford or Vauxhall ....although Lexus push them very close for reliability ,comfort and drive etc

Enjoy the shopping and test drives !

Conventional Hybrids are a false economy. Plug-in Hybrids, if your commute is only 20 odd miles or so, definitely do provide a substantial cost saving.

I would follow Ferris Beuler’s advice and go for a Ferrari California. “If you have the means I highly recommend you pick one up”

Depends where they live and drive,it's to big to chuck around country lanes and big if they park on the road.

Mates got the estate and we drove to Portugal, comfy fast and took all the luggage

With 11-12k have a look st Jag XF premium luxury spec. They do a 2.2 diesel that’s ok on tax and around 45mpg tons of Bells and whistles that budget should get a 2013/14 with around 45-50k miles.
