I massively over think Christmas and who to buy presents for!

I end up buying for way more than I need to. For example.... I buy for my best friend who works on an office with 2 other girls I'm friends with but not super close friends. So now I've had to buy for them.

Similarly I am going out for dinner with some girls from work. I've bought for a couple of them but then I feel bad for not getting the others so I bought for them lol

I am also buying for a friend and her partner but don't want his kids to feel left out do even though I've only met them a couple of times I've got them a little something too.

My list gets bigger and bigger every year!

Our list has shrunk considerably. We buy for 6 people, 5 of which are family.

If you can afford it and enjoy it though, crack on!

Luckily I pay into a thrift club throughout the year and get paid out in November so I don't have great expense at Christmas.

I'm going to try and slimline next year though (maybe )

I don’t buy for many people nowadays, my children are my first priority, then mr and my youngest nephew. My mom would go mad at me if I buy for her so my son always picks her a Christmas plant that she’s always happy to get. X

I like the idea of a price limit. £1 isn't a challenge with the amount of Pound shops around.

When I went to the hairdressers the other day he had a stack of chocolates and biscuits and a load of drink including champagne that people had given him. I don't even tip!

Both my mums and my gf (both dads dead now so that's a bonus as far as savings go)..that's it. Nobody else gets anything else, friends and family can all fuck off as far as gifts are concerned, I'm not wasting money buying them crap they probably don't need. Same goes for me, I get nothing back from any of em..it's inevitably some smellies or edibles anyhow and I can just get my own if want

Yes!

No, you don't. They should be buying you one if anything.

Our Christmas present list was starting to get stupid a few years ago. When the postage for presents came to £70 one year we suggested to friends and family that we should all only buy for people up to the age of 18. I think everyone else had been feeling the same but didn't want to say anything. Anyway, it's a tradition that all our friends and family were very happy to adopt and it works well for us. It means that the kids get slightly better pressies and, any one over 18 can celebrate by coming out for a drink over the festive week. Also we use the money we have saved on petrol and visit relatives and friends we wouldn't usually get to see.

I but for family only and my next door neighbors only. Last year I bought my ex fwb a bottle of wine, big mistake, he called me clingy and dumped me. I,be made one exception this year and bought for my disabled daughter's school friend as they have bought for her. I don't tip the milkman or dustpan like my neighbor does. I certainly wouldn't give a gift to the hairdresser if getting my hair cut. X

My mum and dad still tip the bin men etc and they don’t give a small tip either!! I wouldn’t mind but they rarely get the same postman and they give him £20!!

You do realise Amazon put secret tracking software on Kindles so they can see what websites you’re looking at and send you tailor made suggestions for items you should buy from them

I find it very awkward to receive presents from people just because they happen to be in the same room as me or think I may be left out.

They also tend to be random gifts that won’t be used rather than something thought about. My suggestion would be to spend your money on something from Good Gifts and spread the cheer to those who really need it.

Jeez if you enjoy it and can afford it there's no problem. I mostly opt out of Xmas. No tree or decs, no cards up or given and only buy for immediate family and friends I have a LOT to do with, but not their kids!!

I don't have the money or inclination.

Yeah I guess you are right. Seeing it from the other side it's a bit rubbish. It's all done for this year though so next year I'll think properly about who I'm buying for.

Large tubs of sweets/biscuits solves the family issues. I just hand one to each family
