Here goes.... maybe you fab lot are the best people to ask or possibly the worst..but I'll ask any way

And please no dick head replies

Do you stay with someone out of duty and for kids who are just about grown up and dare I say it financial reasons. .

Or

Do yo choose unconditional love u a rocky road.....

Only you can make that choice.

However, I took the second option.

Oooooooorrrrrrr at least I though I did and now I'm divorced and single and not as well off as I could be. But at least I'm not miserable!

If you were going to choose unconditional love (I think that only exists for your children but that's another thread) I think you would have chosen it by now. If it's unconditional you wouldn't be placing conditions like financial considerations on it would you?

I don't understand the unconditional love bit?

This is a decision only you can make for yourself OP, but personally, I don't believe unconditional love can or should exist between adults - we all have a limit to what we will tolerate unless we're doormats.

Unrealistic expectations are bound to lead to disappointment.

No you never stay with someone for the children it's not good for them to see unhappy parents imo.

I stayed far too long with my ex and it screwed the kids up.

Don't rush this decision, I left my ex after 11 years !

I was left homeless with our son for 8 weeks, thankfully friends took us in till I sorted a place out.

It's taken me over 18 months to sort my head out and I know I made the right choice but it was not an easy path !

Never stay with someone for children or money when you're unhappy

Chances are the other person and kids will be miserable too.

Life is too short. .

If you can't be happy with you, who can you be happy with? Am I right?

Money cant be taken to your grave and life is too short to be unhappy.. children pick up on vibes and athmosphere and even though at the time they may not understand when adults themselves they will and surely would want thier parents to be happy....

However i have never been in this situation

I lost my best friend aged 22 and that taught me life is too short to be miserable.. tomorrow is not granted..

Dare to love dare to live..

However if you are debating if the person your leaving for is worth the risk? Chances are they are not.

Only you can decide this one though op

X

people stay & leave relationships for a multitude of reasons, I’d be surprised if it was solely down to one reason or another.*

*excluding cases of DV

I would view this completely differently based on my circumstances. I conclude we can only base advice on what we have done in a similar situation.

Personally i dont think its worth being with someone if your not happy.

The kids will pick up on stuff and would benefit more from happy estranged parents than a unhappy household. Thats my opinion, having had a complexed family life as a kid.

When the relationship is beyond repair and improvement, then I get out. I prefer to be single than in the wrong relationship.

"Kids should come first..."

And if that means leaving a destructive relationship then so be it, also your own sanity is quite important at the end of the day

I left my previous marriage and very lovely life style because I just couldn't anymore. Didn't love him and only there because we were married. It was a hard decision but I did it and I've never looked back since. So happy I'm free and in marriage now where it's open.

Never stay for the kids or money only for you!!
