Yes, I guess we do.

I used to speak to a man on the phone at work years ago, he had a very attractive voice and a french accent. The picture in my head didn't match reality

Yes. Some people are as I've imagined which makes me really happy. I like imagining what sort of accent someone has as I read their posts as well.

I don’t know now. The reason I ended up in the South East was being charmed by a man on the phone by his voice (he was a customer of the company I worked for).

I think it’s rare that I think oh wow, you are nothing like I expected and when I get it really wrong it’s usually with women!

Not so much a mental picture if what they look like unless they have public pics then I don't need to.

It's more a feel of what they are like their ideas thoughts the things that they like or dislike and how they relate to others or may even relate to me. In many ways that's the key attraction. Do they make me laugh intrigue me with their mind make me think and get inside my mind.

When I try to visualise someone here I have never seen I usually get the image of their appearance totally wrong...but then the biggest sex organ we all have is the brain so maybe if the brain in connected then the attraction is already developed and what we imagine someone looks like assumes less importance when or if we meet them face to face?

I used to when I first posted in the forums. I was usually wrong. Now I just don't get a mental picture at all - I think I've been wrong so much that my mind has given up trying.

Same. I lose track of profile names and so many people have the same pics I've given up trying to distinguish anything.

I got sent a picture recently that actually shocked me

And peoples voices often surprise me too.

Thanks everyone for your answers. We get to see very few faces unless they're on profiles that I tend to fill in the blanks . For some unknown reason I imagine everyone as tall, no idea why, even of their dscription says they're not. I also rarely imagine blond hair.

I kinda vaguely have an image of someone not in any great detail though. It's nice when someone pops a face pic up after seeing a photo of their foot for the last year or so!

Same and hate when they make a movie of a book and cast a completely different type to what I had imagined.

Accents and how someone speaks can influence my attraction levels to them

I sort of cobble together bits of information... forum posts, photos, profile content and have a vague image of what I think they look and sound like. Once I’ve met someone I start to read their posts/messages with their accent
