I remember I got the electronic game Simon, where you had to press the colours in the same sequence, loved that I did

For hubby he said Big Trak was his fave

When I was little it was my Sindy doll and because we didn’t have much money my dad made me a bed and wardrobe for her. It was my most played with toy ever. Then when I was a bit older it was my first ever record player x

It was a board with a partition in the middle, but not right to the top. The top was triangle shaped and had 2 rubber bands. On the left part of the board just before the drop zone were scoring areas. The counters were ball bearings with a plastic ring around them. You pushed the counter up one side it hit the 2 rubber bands and you had to judge it right so that they ended up in the scoring zones.

Best Christmas present as a child was a trip to Disney world. My parents got me a Minnie Mouse watch and my brother a Mickey Mouse watch. And we each got one of those autograph books. We unwrapped them and were a bit confused then my parents handed us each booklets with our tickets to Florida. Was my first time on a plane and everything.

There and to the left a bit

Physical tangible things then would have to be the Scalextric set I got from family friends one year, was the biggest set they made at the time and the Xmas money I got was spent on making it even bigger.

Non-tangible was a surprise trip around 1976/7 to White Hart Lane to tour the stadium, watch the team train and meet them after, still have the autograph book from that day somewhere!!

My first ever racer bike. It was all white and had proper gears and everything!

I knew I was getting it as my dad took me to choose it but had to wait till Christmas to get it.

Christmas morning came and I rush down stairs to open my presents but there was no bike shaped one

Then my dad kept asking me to get him a drink from behind the sofa so I did and there was my bike!

Wasted no time getting dressed and trying to work out the gears

This may sound daft but it was my favourite Chinese curry, and two action force soldiers for my birthday.

I was about 7/8 We were down on our luck, my dad had been made redundant and my mum had managed to get a part time job for which she had to walk miles to do.

Money was really tight. I’d resigned myself to having nothing at all, knowing things were difficult for my parents, we were on the verge of losing our house.

On my birthday, mum walked in from work and presented me with the curry and two soldiers.

Knowing my mum had taken a good 3 mile detour from work to get me that curry, and that she’d spent money we could ill afford meant all the world to me.

Things got better, and I got much better presents. But it’s this that most sticks in my mind and always has.

My drum kit at 13.

I had to stick it out with an awful kit all year to prove that I was genuinely interested. I’ve still got the same kit now. Although it’s just the shells that are original everything else has been upgraded.

I think it was £550 when my parents bought it. Well worth it though, that kit sparked the fire of my music obsession
