Yet another jealousy thread!!

your imagination

Jealousy is a subject that came up when talking to several people over the course of the weekend, and is still being mentioned in different conversations.

I'm never jealous of what someone I fancy or meet with does with another person, and if I'm busy myself I don't really care what anyone else does lol. But if I'm free to meet and my playmate isn't because they're meeting someone else, I get jealous of the missed opportunity.

What other nuances of jealousy have you felt or experienced?

I think you misread my original post... There's not just one type of jealousy... Its a very nuanced and complicated emotion just like any other.

People who say they don't feel jealousy simply don't recognise that and assume it refers to the possessive 'green eyed monster'

In fairness I'm fussy about who I share my food and men with. I have been known to stop meeting someone or pull out of meeting someone after I've learned that they've met someone whom I've felt uncomfortable having that close a degree of separation with. Whether for health or discretionary reasons. But that's a whole other issue.

There is nothing wrong with feeling a little jealous of someone you are close to. It shows you care.

Even though this is a site where people try to turn off emotions it is really pretty rare to be able tondomit completely.

It's how you channel that emotion which is key...

I can relate to this ^^ the ‘what could have been’ but as Meli says, it’s more like a feeling of disappointment.

Jealousy is absolutely rife on here and it’s not an easy thing to deal with when you are subjected to the wrath of a jealous person. A destructive emotion which I’m pleased I don’t suffer from.

I don't feel jealousy, it's more consuming than that. If I liked someone a lot and they wanted to meet someone else instead of me I'd feel like I wasn't good enough. It would also have to be someone I'd met before so it's more rejection than jealousy.

It's hardly surprising that jealousy rears its head on here as sex stirs up emotions and no matter how hard you try to be objective and all 'nsa', subjectivity can sometimes take you unawares. I'm not sure anyone actually *chooses* to feel jealous - it's a horrid stomach churning feeling that can make you literally feel sick, quite apart from stirring up feelings of inadequacy (even when the logical side of your head is telling you that's silly).

However, if you do feel like that on a site like this (and the jealousy isn't in relation to something agreed between you and a.n.other(s) which they've then reneged on) then you really do have to swallow it down and find a dignified way of dealing with it. It just isn't acceptable to 'warn off' and/or verbally attack people you perceive as rivals, or to spread lies about them, when they haven't done anything wrong in the context of Fab.

On here, I mostly feel jealous - or maybe it'd be more accurate to say envious - of other women who project the kind of self confidence and self esteem that I've never had and never will. But I admire them at the same time and wouldn't dream of attacking them for having something I don't.

Funny how lots are saying they don't experience jealousy. From my time on fab I have seen more outbursts of jealousy and lamp post pissing than in vanilla life. All dressed up as snidey remarks and sly digs. Own your feelings people. Do I get jealous? Yeh if it's worth having emotions for. But on here and in the scene - no way. Superficial relationships dont deserve it.

On an side note. Its interesting to observe that most who say they aren't jealous phrase it as they 'don't do jealousy' rather than feeling it. There seems to be a need to distance oneself from what is perceived to be an undesirable trait by not even acknowledging it as an emotion.

Jealousy or envy in reasonable forms and quantities is quite healthy. Its an emotion thats directly linked to drive and ambition, its part of our evolutionary process as an individual. Its how you perceived the term that defines you

Jealousy is something I really had a hard time shaking off when I've experienced it. It's a horrible emotion, but I understand why I got jealous, and why I feel jealous sometimes. It's envy (said above) And that's what it is.

I love being around people that enjoy life, so when they are having a good time, I now like to pick up on their good vibes, instead of shutting it out like I used to.

Well said!!!

Thankfully I've never felt the need to contact anyone or attack anyone... And having been subjected to that kind of behaviour have sympathy for anyone who does suffer the brunt of it. Not just on Fab, but on other platforms too. As I said in my original post... I get jealous of missed opportunities, nothing more, and it usually passes pretty quickly.... Unless I'm pms-ing and feeling like an ugly frump nobody wants anyway. Then I eat chocolate for 3 days, listen to soulful music and feel jealous of girls in adverts in white jeans

I hope I don’t get jealous on here as I’ve been on the receiving end and it’s not nice, but I suppose I do get envious. That I’ve not had a meet, or not met someone I wanted to. I think I can come across as being distant is the easiest way to describe it, but I’m not always confident in situations and that can be mistaken for different reasons. X

I spent half my life terrified. My ex was insanely jealous, even someone asking me where something in the supermarket was would cause an outburst.

It's an emotion I don't understand, have never had & I really hope I'll never experience again.

"Jealousy is something I really had a hard time shaking off when I've experienced it. It's a horrible emotion, but I understand why I got jealous, and why I feel jealous sometimes. It's envy (said above) And that's what it is.

I love being around people that enjoy life, so when they are having a good time, I now like to pick up on their good vibes, instead of shutting it out like I used to.

It's like Arsenal congratulating United on their big win over the weekend.

I'm jealous that men can lift you up and most struggle to have me sit on their knee!! can we swap metabolisms?"

Why would anyone ever get jealous full stop? Because humans do. Fab is not an automatic defence in this respect. You are familiar with lamp post pissing activety on fab right?

Even when that guy you met and fancied the pants off has met someone younger/prettier/curvier than you and the verification gushes fabulousness or that woman you've met now has a verification from some stud with a bigger penis and a more toned body than you.

What sort of bunny boiler starts looking for veris from previous meets, and then comparing them to their own??

If you're going out of your own way to look for stuff like that, then you've got more issues than jealousy.

All I give a shit about is the time im with that person. What they do beforehand and after is their business, same as my time before and after is mine.

"jealousy is rife on fab!

Totally agree

But then I'm not jealous of anyone nor should anyone be jealous of me but sadly it happens then you get nasty comments and messages.

I've been on the receiving end of jealousy plenty of times for various reasons (and mostly completely unwarranted) and know how nasty it can be, but surely there are some things you envy yourself?

Probably the happiness others feel I guess. I feel I'm immune to most of it with my bipolar. But then are their life's so good.

Oddly I think us bipolars just feel things 'more' "

I wouldn't compare veris... But I'd certainly check someone I was going to meets veris, as I have a rule not to meet anyone my friends meet regularly. Keeps things simpler if we're all attending an event and nobody has to make awkward choices. I actually feel quite awkward myself if I'm attending something that a few people I've played with previously are attending as there is always the chance I will have to say no to at least one. I almost always arrange to bring someone with me or accompany someone else to events now to avoid being put in those situations.

If it's not something of mine that I have no rights to be jealous over then I'm good at shaking it off.

"I don't feel jealousy, it's more consuming than that. If I liked someone a lot and they wanted to meet someone else instead of me I'd feel like I wasn't good enough. It would also have to be someone I'd met before so it's more rejection than jealousy. "
But what you are saying, seems to me (mr) that you are describing a permanent choice that once made can never be undone or changed in different circumstances.

There are a number of couples we've played with, that we love being with, but for different occasions, say spending an evening out, each has a quality that would make them better suited (for us) than others for different nights out, some are lively, others reserved in their persona, some who'd be great company over dinner and such like. That happens in life, doesn't it?

Exactly.

If i invest a lot of time in someone, meet them, get on with them, share my body with them on numerous occassions, then yeah i'll get a pang that they've maybe met someone else.

I'd not message the woman though. I've had women repeatedly check out my profile because i've happened to have a social with a man they have laid claim to but i have women blocked as i don't need their drama so never had a message telling me to back off.

I don't lay claim to anyone. I just don't tolerate being anyone's second choice or fallback gal. I expect to be the main not the dessert.

And if a guy plays the manipulation card by trying to work the "playing women off against each other" then i just walk away.

My self esteem is fine. I just don't share.

And then there are the Forumites who see you flirting with someone and just have to mail you to let you know you're stepping on their toes with a 'I'm just letting you know he's mine in the hope that you'll back off without me actually having to tell you to' type message

I've had a guy I met twice become insanely jealous of my existing fwb and turn really nasty against both of us, a girl my fwb met get jealous of me and start messaging me when he didn't stop meeting me, that guy I met for coffee only who's previous meet messaged me, a local guy who simply messaged me warning me against meeting a whole list of local guys and I've lost track of how many women have mailed me locally asking if I've met X, Y or Z and saying to stay away as they are taken... And then there are the Forumites who see you flirting with someone and just have to mail you to let you know you're stepping on their toes with a 'I'm just letting you know he's mine in the hope that you'll back off without me actually having to tell you to' type message "

I hope you ignore every single one of them!

London

I've lost most of my hair. When I see a shampoo commercial whether it's a man or woman I do envy their luxurious locks.

The other watching Meghan Markel, the rock on her finger, the besotted Prince by her side didn't elicit any emotion from me, but her luscious locks blowing in the wind made me wistful.

"why would you get jealous on here is what I don't get. you're on here for sex and nothing else "

I'm generally oblivious to what our friends get up to unless they explicitly tell us and then if they've had a great time, I'm really pleased for them...never envious of them or the people they've spent time with...this is supposed to be fun. Invoking such negative feelings detracts from that...when it stops being fun, it would stop for us.

If people we've met decide they prefer spending time with others rather than us, good luck to them, I don't give them a second thought once they've passed out the other side of our lives...

Thing is, in a relatively small group (forumites v the rest of Fab) it's inevitable that (some) people are going to talk about that kind of person. I'd feel mortified if I'd sent a toe stepping message to someone else and subsequently became the topic of gossip - probably in a bit of a 'isn't she pitiful' way. I don't understand why anyone would expose themselves to that, even leaving aside the wrongs of sending a territorial mail in the first place.

I feel the same when I see kids doing cartwheels... If I tried that these days I'd probably end up in traction!!

Again... many types of jealousy... And vindictiveness isn't always caused by it. Some people are just happier when they make others miserable. "

Some of the nastier issues are hard to ignore as they have a greater impact. The guy who turned nasty for example mailed everyone else my fwb and I had verifications from and even some people who had verified them saying some pretty horrendous things. We had to report him and he was eventually banned. Other things are easier to roll your eyes at and ignore.

"Are you seriously telling me that people on this thread don't feel a pang of jealousy for whatever reason?!

Even when that guy you met and fancied the pants off has met someone younger/prettier/curvier than you and the verification gushes fabulousness or that woman you've met now has a verification from some stud with a bigger penis and a more toned body than you.

Yeah right I believe ya "

Probably is jealousy I feel, a pang when he gets a verification from someone else and they get a glowing one from him. I would never think of having a go at said person though, I just work through it in my head and make the most of the next meet I have with him

Exactly this

Inevitably emotions will be tested but focusing on them positively, you had fun, they had fun, you'll all have fun again, you hurt because you care, if you care you want them to be happy right?

"None. I don't get jealous at all

Of anything?? Hats off to you lady!! I envy you...

Nope, nothing. Maybe there is something wrong with me "

Oh not at all. Jealousy is such a negative emotion.I am in a couple and we both meet separately and together, (hence single profile, I don't use it as a front). we are separated by miles and her sex drive needs to be satisfied and I feel better the more skillful, able, sensual and satisfying that experience is for her. Sadly those men are a rarity . They are usually surprised at my approval of their meetings. And we're a couple deeply in love.

A passing moment.. And then you make the most of the time you do get to have with him? That sounds perfectly healthy to me lady!

I do.

It's weird tho, coz I'd never actually want to swap places with the people as I'm happy they're having a good time. I guess I get jealous that they're enjoying themselves and I'm not. It's a loneliness thing more than being jealous of their actions. It's envious that I'm alone when they aren't. It's not all the time either, it's only when I'm having a crisis of confidence.

Absolutely... I was only just discussing this with someone in pm and saying that previously a regular meet of mine told me he was jealous when he knew I was meeting someone else, but he expressed it as a compliment that showed me how much he valued the time we did have together and it was actually quite flattering. Jealousy shouldn't always be viewed in its extreme form

I get the pangs, when someone I like is having sexy fun elsewhere and I'm stuck at home ironing, but I remember the times they were gracious when I was enthusing over a hot meet. Sex isn't a zero sum game - good times with someone else don't diminish good times with me.

If I get the stomach churny feeling though, that means I'm feeling insecure. For me there's something wrong with the dynamic if I'm feeling insecure and it's time to move on.

Blokes tell me they’re jealous of other guys I meet, I just presume it’s their way of trying to get into my knickers again and not that they actually are jealous

am guilty as charged .

I recently found myself getting jealous that some one I know is having fun.

It took me a while to realise I was jealous because I have feelings for this person .

It wasn't the sex I missed but their company

I don't hurt is the point...it doesn't hurt either of us in the slightest even if people are very close friends...we're swingers and so are they...that's what it's all about...

I’m not a jealous person and certainly not over Fab friends, I enjoy the time I have with them, not worry about what (who? ) else they are doing the rest of the time.

I do get food envy though
