I've got a mint 1987 Mercedes 230CE coupe

Built like a tank, and still drives like a modern motor

I bought one, brand spanking new in August 1978, Jamaica Yellow with Dearskin plastic seats, lol. £2785.00 on the road.

I kept it for 10yrs, even learnt Kate to drive in it, and it was where we had our first shag, in June 1981

The insanity that is the DeLorean DMC-12..... I mean come on...!!!!…. The truth surrounding the existence of that car is way better the fiction, which keeps it in our thoughts now….

I love many of the cars from this era..

For me the ones that stand out are the

Audi Quattro

Metro turbo

M5

Alpina bmws of that era.

Sierra rs500

I do also love the 205 gti.. still keep considering one now for a track toy..

I had a nova for a rally car for a while and as much as I loved it I always wanted a gti 205 but couldnt afford one at the time..( or race in that engine class as my nova was a 1.4)

But the ones that really make me think are the

Lancia Delta integrale

or the Charade gtti.. Such a fast little car 0-60.. rare as anything now too..

To be fair I just love the 80s cars.. so much soul... I had a little metro turbo rather heavily modified and caged for a track toy.. it was ace.. such a cheeky car.. as was my little nova..

Ohhh cant forget the series 1 escort turbos either.. or the RSturbo fiesta.. R5 turbo.. this is car porn to me lol

I love going to the ford fest for these and a few other little gems.. I am a bit ford fan.. actually no.. like many cars.. but my dream garage is very ford heavy lol

i had rg500 suzuki,rd500 yam still quick even todays standards just didnt handle aswell ,also had 3.0 capri and rs 3.1 capri also capri with 3500 rover engine in it lol that was bit quick lol

Before my cars I owned a Honda CD175. Not exactly sporty but I had to get a low slung one as my legs are so short

Had a 1979/80 mini too.

Have to agree with the Rover SD1. It had a V8 engine that was originally a Buick engine from the states.

The Capri's were really good too. The 3ltr essex V6 was a good solid engine too and was replaced with the 2.8iltr that was based on the Cologne V6 that was in the Granada and was later dropped into the sierra's.

I'll put me anorak away now lol

I definatley agree there, I've got 2 old Minis, I have always had at least one of the little beasties at some point! They still drive fantastic minis do, well mine don't but they will get restored eventually!

The Essex V6 wasnt a good engine it was noted for blowing head gaskets under hard driving conditions mainly because it was never intended to be a petrol engine it was designed to be a diesel engine.

The V6 in the Granada's I owned were the Cologne engines. The essex V6 wasn't too bad, it just depends who owned and maintained the engine/car.
