I don't think I'm allowed to hyperlink in a post, so I have cut and pasted a bit of text from Pink News. Hopefully this is allowed.

I've never had an experience remotely like this on either Fab Swingers or Fab Guys, but I guess there's always one or two rotten apples out there.

Will it stop me inviting gents round to my house? No. but I guess it will make me a little more wary for a while.

Man who stabbed and stran*led man he met on dating site jailed for 17 years

A man who stran*led someone he met on the gay dating site Fab Guys has been jailed for 17 years.

The 19-year-old attacker, Gubair Boshir, a restaurant worker, was accused of trying to murder a man he met on the site. ?

He grabbed the victim in a c*oke hold and stabbed him multiple times.

£180 in cash and a mobile phone was stolen by Boshir before he fled the property.

The victim, not named for legal reasons, was left with facial scarring and scarring on his body.

Judge Eleri Rees, who sentenced Boshir to 17 years and eight months in prison at Cardiff Crown Court, described the attack as “ferocious”.

The judge said: “This was a ferocious attack with intent to kill.”

Prosecutor Michael Jones said the victim had met Boshir on Fab Guys and that the attacker went to the man’s home on 6 May.

Jones added: “As soon as he walked in he grabbed the victim in a c*oke hold, wrapping both arms around his throat.

“The victim struggled and grabbed his arms, trying to breathe. He could feel he was losing strength and fell to his knees.”

Boshir, the court heard, told the man to “just go to sleep”.

The victim, prosecutors said, saw Boshir holding a five-inch knife before feeling a “sharp pain” in his back, chest and face.

Jones continued: “The victim fought for his life – grappling with the defendant.”

The victim gave a statement to police, saying: “I felt like I was going to die. At this point I felt I had no fight left, I was so worn out.”

Once Boshir left the man’s flat, he managed to drag himself to a neighbour’s property who called 999.

At the University Hospital of Wales, the victim was treated for 10 knife injuries including eight stab wounds, and other lacerations.

Boshir was later found in his attic bedroom after police attended an address in the Grangetown area of the city.

He had not been at home the first time they went to the property.

The cash and phone stolen from the victim were found in Boshir’s pocket.

Speaking to police during interview at Cardiff Bay Police Station, Boshir said: “I’m glad he didn’t die.”

He initially said he didn’t take the knife with him to the home of the victim and stabbing him, but later said he had it with him “for protection” as he had been meeting a stranger.

He also said he acted in “panic” when he stabbed the victim.

The victim added in his statement: “All I want is a quiet life.”

Continuing: “My injuries have been on display for all to see.”

Boshir had admitted theft and attempted murder on a basis of plea, but the judge rejected that during a trial of issue.

Defending, Harry Baker said his client was “still a very young man” and argued that he had been remorseful for the crimes.

Boshir, Baker said, will use his time in custody to reform himself.

The judge described the incident as “horrific”, saying the attack was sustained with stabbing and stran*ulation.

I do believe these to be rare occurrences, but the danger is still possible. I prefer to meet at a club but in some cases I would possibly assess the risk of turning up at that person(s) home. Only once so far with a couple but as I had to change at their home, it did give me the opportunity to leave if it did look risky (much harder in heels). Check verifications, the area you're going to and even your gut instinct and hopefully things will turn out, ok.

Do you think so? Personally I think that attempted murder is just as bad as murder, why do they get rewarded for being crap at it?

The guy turned up at someones house with the intent to end his life for the sake of a few quid a phone. And it was premeditated, it wasnt a spur of the moment panic like he claimed. He signed up, started talking, brought a knife with him and went over and then immediately attacked him. The only reason the guy didnt die was because of pure luck.

That would be irrelevant as the relationship you hold to a victim shouldn't determine the severity of the sentence. If that was the case everyone whoever committed a crime would be in jail forever

I think the site is irrelevant. It could have happend on any hook up or dating site. Pyshis like that will always find theor victim one way or another. I hope th physical and mental scars heal for the poor man on the receiving end

Realistically though, the incident is not indicative of the lifestyle neither does it suggest that we are at a higher risk by being on these websites. People who are hell-bent on doing harm to others have alway found a way to do so.

It is always prudent to think about your safety in any situation, I'm sure that friends and family have always advised their loved ones to be careful when meeting with strangers even centuries ago.

I can never understand the mentality of people, especially single fems, going to complete strangers homes for a shag. Is it really worth it?

You seriously think so?

The only difference between murder and attempted murder is luck. That lunatic will be walking the Streets in 8 years and you better hope you don't bump into him.

This. This is the reason those who entertain with children in their homes should give their head a wobble.

A very sobering read.

I second that.

Damn it's scary. Follow your instincts, if it doesn't feel right then it's probably not. Be cautious people. You see it can happen to men not just women. Scary read.

The Town by The Cross

Less than 10% of females murdered are murdered by a stranger.

Half of them, about 45% are murdered by a partner or an ex.

90% of females murdered are murdered in their home.

I'm guessing if you want to stay safe you are better off meeting a stranger in or out of your home.

Fear mongering annoys the hell out of me.

People are murdered in clubs, shops, pathways, cafes, on holiday , in church, the pub, the beautiful country side and our wonderful parks..... etc, etc,

How many things are you not going to do and are you going to do them all on your own ?

The future of sex.... wanking in a fall out shelter for one ?

Saying it's through fab is a bit scaremongering imo.

It's like saying someone got murdered after going in a taxi, or at a train station, or walking home from the pub.

Sure, it's a chilling story, we all need to be careful and consider safety in all the things we do. But, let's keep it in perspective too.

Why would you arrange a meet with a stranger and carry a knife with you because you had a doubt about how safe it was ,if you think a meet might be dangerous then why meet ,no I think and don't take this wrong ,the young lad was a queer basher and went with the intent to do mischief and was only remorseful because he got caught and no matter how long he got it won't change him and he will still be a danger on his release
