Click bait, I know.

I'm talking about 3D films. Is it any benifit to film making?

Having 3D images does not help tell a story. If the story is bad, having the actor pop from a screen does not make it any better.

But is it the story we're watching it for? Maybe the spectacle of it all is what's enjoyable?

Either way, it costs me more money to watch a 3D film.

It's a gimmick, it was tried in the 80's with such greats as jaws 3D and Friday the 13th pt2764 to name the only two I recall..

They were both god awful..

It's great for kids films, video games and the 3D/4D rides at theme parks, but movies for adults.. nah..

Although busty babe's 3D might be worth a punt..

I always think it's just an excuse for the cinemas to charge extra over and above the extortionate prices they already charge - most 3D films I've left feeling ripped off as the 3D effects have been minimal at best.

Saw Suicide Squad in 4D (where the chairs move, you get squirted and bullets literally whistle past your ear etc) at nearly £20 a ticket and whilst it was fun it was no way worth that price.

Standard 3D is so so but, IMAX 3D really is impressive, especially with an action film. I'm more than happy to pay extra for the IMAX experience as it really does enhance it in my opinion.
