Agree with someone you don't like?

Or disagree with someone you do like?

Or decide whether or not you agree with someone based on whether or not you like them?

Or decide whether or not you like someone based on whether or not you agree with them?

On forums,I mean, not in the real world.

Sometimes i do it just to confuse them. I don't usually agree with anyone though, even if i believe that what they say is true.

I've even been known to disagree with the forum "elite".

If an opinion is similar to mine I'll agree regardless of poster. The converse is also true.

Do people truly struggle with this?

If I respond to a thread it's because I have an opinion. I sometimes think it had to happen I suppose when I agree with someone I usually think isn't playing with a full deck.

I don't decide whether or not I agree with someone based on if I like them or not but I sometimes decide I don't like someone if I find our opinions clash on a regular basis. In this instance I normally just choose not to interact with them.

Just because I frequently disagree with someone doesn't mean that I will never agree with them.

It depends on how much I like or dislike the person. There is one person on here, that I know of, that is so deeply fucked up I would never be able to agree with them. They just can't be right. Others, not so much

As much as I might disagree with someone's opinion, whether they're friends or not on here, it's their opinion and differs from mine which is something I see as a positive.

Using differences to create conflict on here however is something I want no involvement in, I left school many moons ago and will not return to playground battles anymore

Would you ever take it as a personal insult if someone disagrees with you?

Or feel inclined to insult someone because you disagree with them? Rather than a reasoned argument.

Miss Tress just asked if people really struggle with these sorts of points.

I wonder that too sometimes. I love a good argument,as in a rational debate, but not all arguments stay that way.

I don’t always agree with the people I like but on the whole the reason I like most people is we have similar opinions. At the end of the day, most forum threads are based on just that, opinions. No right or wrong so no point in rowing and getting your knickers in a twist because someone thinks differently to you.

.

Yes, I have agreed with those I don't particularly like and disagreed with those I do. I guess if I repeatedly disagree with someone it could suggest we're not that compatible and not someone I'd particularly like but it could just be one side of them that I am reading if that makes sense?

If it's a debate, I'm not focusing on the poster, more the actual points made. Far too often that's forgotten on here and claims made of a personal sort - hidden agendas or accusations of negativity or other crap.

I either agree or I don’t and who they are doesn’t stop me from quoting them. To be honest; I don’t hold malice. Not once I’ve buried their body anyhow.

90% of the time I agree or disagree to the post and not the person. I might like or dislike their posts but I can't really know if I like them as a person or not if we've never met.

Online I agree or disagree with opinions, not with people. Usually, whether I like someone on a forum has more to do with how they put their opinions across than the opinions themselves, although the opinions do play a part.

I have no problem disagreeing with people I like, and agreeing with people I don't like. Although I'm a lot less likely to joke around with people I don't particularly get on with.

I agree with those that share the same opinion as me... regardless of who they are.

If I disagree with most of someone's opinions then we are unlikely to get on. It also depends on the way they voice their opinions as to whether I like them or not.

"Agree with someone you don't like?"
Yes, a valid point is a valid point regardless.

"Or disagree with someone you do like?"
Yes. Just because I like someone doesn't mean we have to agree on everything.

"Or decide whether or not you agree with someone based on whether or not you like them"
No

"Or decide whether or not you like someone based on whether or not you agree with them"
Yes, but not based on one opinion but an aggregation. If they regularly spout opinions I find abhorrent I probably won't like them since we're just not compatible. They are more than entitled to feel the same way about me and we can remain forum ships that pass in the night.

"On forums,I mean, not in the real world"
Actually, the same logic holds true in the real world. If there's someone in my local pub, for example, that often pontificates on subjects and has a different perspective to my own take then I am unlikely to form any bond with them other than an occasional hello.

I am beginning to enjoy the forums, but every now and again, as yku say, it turns into a playground.

Debate is good.

Opinion is good.

Putting others down because theirs is different from yours, is not.

If I don't agree with something it doesn't really matter if I like the person or not I'll still say I disagree.

I won't agree with something just cos I like that person.

Also when asking for advice which I often do I tend to listen to people who aren't that keen on me more because they often give the best advice.

I agree and disagree with people I both like and have less interest in - as well as suspend my opinions, as often I need more information upon something than just another's opinion, before I'm able to really think a topic through.

It's easy to carry around perspectives that may have been formed when we had limited understanding, or when we had a different outlook on life, were less mature etc.

A great value in fab is the diversity of opinion and experience - far better than a narrow interest group

If you are getting personal, you have lost the argument. This is a forum for opinions and that's all it is. It can be great fun, insightful and thought provoking or down right nasty and ignorant but it's virtual so why bother is my motto
