It didn't seem to last long as it reopened sometime after. I reckon it's just something over nothing. Probably some idiot set a small firework off which caused the panic seeing that people are still setting them off long after bonfire night.

nothings happened.. panic caused by an apparent gun shot being heard..but very reassuring to see quite how instantly the police were there..

Indeed...it seems that the DM report of a truck being driven into a crowd of shoppers was based on a tweet concerning an unrelated incident on Oxford Street on NOVEMBER 14th...

Armed police responded to reports of gun fire and panic. - Found NO evidence of Suspects, casualties or shots fired. Only woman who was injured was hurt due to the panic of getting out.

So nothing happened.

Just shows the state of mind people are in at the moment..

Chances are it was a sports car being revved and unspent fuel igniting in the exhaust.. you hear them around there a lot, in the narrower streets the "pop,pop,pop" does sound a little like gunfire.

Actually, the Police have issued a statement that the panic was started by two men brawling on the tube platform...
