Was out yesterday, on my day-off

Quite blustery wind, that was a bit too omni-difectional, as l kept getting pushed into gutters, then swept out 5 foot or so

Managed a decent spin, up by Dacres Cross, at Towton

Ou via Castleford, Peckfield Bar, HookMoor, etc

Home via Sherburn

Filthy & wimdswept on arrival, looked like a Paris-Roubaix finisher!!!

Roadie here

But, have raced Cyclo-Cross 1990-1998, &, 2007-2010

MTB, circa 1990 - 1997

Road-raced in mid-90's

Never 'tested', ride with a. Triathlon club sometimes, but never competed in it

I have never owned a road bike, but have spent my life on 2 wheels, 20", 24",26" and 27.5. I rode BMX in the skatepark(where we both met), rode dirt jumps on a 24" and raced motocross and downhill events. A wife, kids, many injuries and lost wages made me decide to calm down a bit. So Im on a Commencal Meta Sx now.

That's great set the tension very low to start with. It will make it easier to unclip if you need to. Good luck once you get used to them you will never look back.

I ride both, I wouldn’t class myself as a real roadie however as I tend to only ride about 1000 miles a year on the road bike but I race my MTB at enduro races (managed to get entry to Ard Rock again this year)

Fair play to all out in this chilli weather, i’ve Taken the Zwift route

As previously stated

Roadie here

Raced CX in past, could usually easily get into top 1/4 of a race

Also MTB raced, circa 1990-1996

Road-raced for a season in mid 90s

My competative urges are taken care of nowadays (when fit!!) by fell-races & ParkRuns

Now do it for pleasure/keep fit

Also commute '365'

If weather too bad (snow), l put the fell-race shoes on and run in

I'm a road bike rider; it's only a hobby, although I like to push myself.

Spent a lifetime racing - cross country running, road running and cross country skiing.

Took up cycling when a heart condition stopped me running; I've had 2 ops but it's back again (even worse this time) so I'm not riding at the moment - truly gutted!

Does anyone use a wattbike? They have recently got a couple in my gym amd I'm considering some lunchtime sessions. Are they like a spin bike or a more authentic feel? Or more precisely unlike spin bikes which i find great for general fitness and cardio but not that great for cycling specific fitness would the benefits transfer over to the road

Another brilliant win for Tom Pidcock, at the National Cyclo-Cross Championships

Junior title last year, U-23 title this weekend!

To add to his existing European & World titles!!

Cold, damned cold!!

Out for roughly 2 & 1/2 hours

Had to turn round, as l couldn't feel fingers to safely brake

Vents on helmet were snow-filled on return

I've ridden, & run, in worse but not for a while

Wet ride onTuesday

Windy/blustery yesterday

Looks like another wet one today

May/may not, incorporate it into a visit to the 'TV afternoon' at Quest (take mini showergel in jacket pocket, just in case)

Being on week off, hence the rides

I work on all bikes but only now ride city and road bikes myself... Still test ride MTB but they are pretty well rare in flat Cambridgeshire, most of my mtb customers have downhill bikes or hard core hard Tails and travel to Cannock Chase and the Peak District

"I almost hit a cyclist on my way to work this morning. My fault totally, I should stop going through green lights and wear night vision goggles when driving."

I did hit a cyclist the other day.

He decided not to stop for a red light as I was crossing the road on green light for pedestrians.

He barely missed me, so in shock I threw my hads up and slapped him.

He didn't like it but wasn't brave enough to stop though...

It pisses me off because as a cyclist I stop for red lights...

Yep I hate it too ...When you ride and follow the rules of the road( car drivers hate it when I take the lane at Red lights...but hate it when cyclists jump them) and other cyclists can't be arsed and get us a bad name

Why can't it be the Tour de Somewhere else. It's been here more than enough times now. It's now just irritating. Time they went and blocked roads somewhere else.

If it is such an amazing tourist spectacle, that generates lots of income, then surely some other county would want it.

It can go an be a nuisance somewhere else, and we can have our roads back, thanks.

Most over rated race in Britain and the use of all the French bollocks (because they pay a French company to organize it) really fucking grates. I watch but really resent the way people pretend it's great when it's a lower category of race to the ToB

Not necessarily so

French is still essentially the language of cycling

If taken on merits of roadside crowds, it's probably bigger than T of B

In terms of TV viewing, it's bigger, l doubt T of B reaches 180+ countries?

Cynically speaking, the Yorkshire Tourist Board/Welcome To Yorkshire couldn't buy (afford) that kind of publicity

Wait till 2019, when the World Championships come to the County

The last time a 'Worlds' was held here was 1992

Given Downing's and the rest of the team's near invisibility in races this year that's a big ask.

Love the resurrected Holdsworth brand and the retro kit but no idea how or why they (and Vitus for that matter) got starts in Yorkshire and Wiggins didn't as both teams are well off the pace thus year.

Like all races this year it will come down to one of the big 4 teams. If he's riding I'd not bet against Pidcock on that finish

"Was won by a rider without a team Alex Richardson"

He was with One Pro Cycling until very recently. Can't see anything about why he left. Only took up cycling a few years ago after a career as a stock-broker. And he wins one of the biggest domestic races on the calender...

Mind you his performance makes the relative unknown who took the 50 comp record yesterday look a little more plausible.

Am I being overly cynical?
