Do fitbits give an accurate reading?

More accurate than say an app on the phone?

They are as good any other fitness tracker but, not infallible.

The sleep tracking I found pretty useless.

I thought that was the best part of it haha

Thing with fitbits is, they just record stuff. People have asked me "do they work?" Half expecting that if they buy one then they will suddenly become more active and drop some chub!

Accurate doesn't really matter as long as they are consistent. And if you can consistently out perform yourself then that's when you'll see changes.
