Carl's finally going into Hospital THIS FRIDAY (of all days!!!!)

for his "cancerous"

total~Prostate removal!!

NB:The only symptom he had (seriously) was going to the Lou 3/4 times per night which I personally thought was a little too much.

So I googled this & the "possibility" of 'Prostate Cancer' came up!!

That was in June 2016.

Bloods were slightly high & at this stage it was just "moderately "enlarged & was given medication to 'shrink it (the side effect was "Retograde ejaculation" & diminished Lobedo)

~bloody crap for both of us !!!

His GP told him at his annual check in June 2017..."I'll see you again Carl in 12months"(over my dead body I told him) & demanded he see Carl every month!!!!!

& BLOODY 'THANK GOD' I INSISTED HE SEE HIM EVERY MONTH ~ because by August's examination it had totally changed & felt different(HARDER)

His bloods were higher & at his 2nd MRI scan,BODY BONE SCAN & Biopsies it showed a 8mm tumour!! & Carl' STILL' feels absolutely NORMAL!!

His energy levels are normal,he works out for 2hrs 5 x a week & walks the dogs twice a day !! seriously normal!

So ...take note Fab Guys /peeps~

Thanks sweetheart!!...

I should add....over 40's go to ya GP's & ask for a test(it's a couple of mins slight discomfort at the most) & worth it to put ya mind at rest.

Apparently we've been told by Carl's Urologist~ "EVERYMAN" EVENTUALLY GETS PROSTATE CANCER~ but most die before they actually knew they had it~ EG: old age etc & ACTUALLY DIE having had it for yrs!!

as there can honestly be no symptoms for many (each man's different)

so don't take the risk..go and see ya GP's ASAP ~

Lots of good wishes for you both.

Well done for pushing your gp, they are lazy buggers at best. I've got true stories about lazy gps that miss things, that could fill a book.

I know they are only human but I just wish more would listen to us when we tell them that something isn't right with our bodies.

I took Carl into the Theatre Admissions unit for 10.30am. They allow N.o.k to stay right up to going down for Theatre which is fantastic (so much better than our Local Hospital all round) His Op takes approx 3/4 Hrs,But as yet,he's still in theatre,so appears to taking longer than normal(he's opted for the "Nerve sparing" procedure,so this can take a little longer.As soon as i hear anything I'll up date ya !!

Just been told (6.35pm!!)

Mr C's back in Recovery...so I'm in the car NOW !!!

Hi everyone x

~just to update you all ~

Carl was in Theatre for 6hrs 10mins!!!(having obviously opted for the much~lengthier "Nerve~ sparing" procedure.

He then went str8 to recovery & was then eventually transferred to the Clinical intensive care Unit(massive delay due to a terrible 8 car+ pile~up at Meadowhall on the M1 at Jct 34. Rotherham was Full,so all the 30+ ppl were sent to both Hallamshire & Northern General hospitals & obviously no spare beds were available in the ITC (bless them all !!)

Carl was then eventually allocated a bed in Clinical care & STAYED THERE until 7pm Saturday only 24hrs after arriving in ICU...He's now on the normal

Urology ward & unbelievably will possibly be being discharged at some point today (Sunday....less than 60hrs in Hospital)

what a weekend!!! Lol x

My brother had a quadruple heart bypass 2 yrs ago; operated on a Thursday, discharged following Monday.

xx~ Carl's update Fab Peeps!! ~ xx

Well it's 6 days exactly since Mr C's op.

All 6 Portal sites on his tummy are healing fantastically well~ still stapled up & not a bit of infection in sight thank goodness!!!

His Catheter has been very uncomfortable though

but since he was advised to wear a jockstrap over the pad(for more support and keep his penis in a constant upright position ,it's been lots more bearable and hasn't been as swollen.If only he'd been told this from day1 "bless him"

Was due to go back for his catheter removed tomorrow Friday (1 week post op) but unfortunately the Urology department is fully booked,so it's been scheduled for Monday instead!!(10 days post op)

We've been for a small walk with the dogs to the local park 3 mins away this afternoon (Carl's 1st time out) and

apart from being soooo cold Grrrr ,it went well.

Everyday is getting easier and all is going FAB so far....so gud!!

Frank was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma last July. He had no symptoms until I had tonsillitis - we thought I’d given it to him too. It was a pure fluke - if I’d been ill a week earlier or later his immune system may not have been as low as it was & he’d still be undiagnosed now. Chemo & a stem cell transplant have sorted him though. 12 months in remission

Our NHS is wonderful xx

** 3RD UPDATE**

Carl's had a really awfully uncomfortable week with his catheter & the massively painful trauma swelling it's created (bless him)

So yesterday it was "finally" removed THANK GOD!!!along with all the staples from his 6 portal sites on his tummy(from where the surgeon went into his stomach to perform the keyhole procedure)

He's 'STILL' absolutely NO CONTROL over his bladder (as yet) and will need to work on this over the next 6 weeks (really annoying,very frustrating and embarrassing all at the same time)

Still very sore & swollen ,even his thighs are swelling & retaining fluid,But all is quite normal we've been reassured!!

Carl's just got to continue with the 250ml minimum of water every hour and have a small walk each hour to keep everything moving..

BUT~ HE'S SOOOO FED UP NOW 'BLESS HIM'X

**** 4th update ****

Firstly~

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH TO ALL OF YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME AND EFFORT TO READ MY THREAD ABT Mr C's operation! :o)

Well it's been 17 days since Carl's operation to removed his cancerous total Prostate Gland (24/11)

He's STILL very swollen in the penile~testicular,pubic,upper thigh & lower leg area's.This is quite normal apparently as fluid builds up and aren't able to drain as quickly,which results in this painful retention swollen build up(which is very uncomfortable 24/7) His balls are ONE MASSIVE GRAPEFRUIT in size & Penis is like a "beached twisted swollen Jurassic~slug" (there's really no other way of describing it at the moment)

His catheter was continually sore throughout the 7 days it was fitted and caused Carl severe discomfort & swelling throughout(I had him back to both Rotherham & Sheffield hospitals 3 times during this 1st week,convinced this swelling wasn't right,only to be discharged & reasurred "THIS WAS NORMAL SWELLING!!" So we assumed once this was removed it would settle back to it's NORMAL pre~op size,but to our shock & obvious disappointment this hasn't been the case so far.

But Carl's a born~fighter and not one to let anything get him down....so he's been determined to try his very best to get back to a slow normality

EG: walking the dogs & keep things

moving (as advised by the

Urologists)Eating & drinking as

required & resting in between as

also advised.

It will eventually settle we've been assured ~ but each day seems to last a lifetime at the moment and I feel totally helpless at the moment and can only try my best to be here for him,which is so bloody frustrating seeing Carl suffer so much x x x

Well it's been a while since my last update,so felt it only right I update you all ,after all the fantastic genuinely lovely messages Carl & I have received TY

Well it's been just over 7 weeks now since Carl had a complete Prostecomy

He's still very much dribbling & and in need of his pads :o) bless him,but his major swelling has at long last started to reduce slowly day by day ,over the last couple of weeks!!! Thank goodness!!

He's going back to see his urologist in 2 weeks so will know far more then(fingers & toes tightly X'ed they've removed it all)

It's gonna be a very long slow recovery

but we hope & pray...his feeling comes back soon& can get back his erections & control the bladder incontinence....but with strong pelvic floor muscles prior to his OP,hopefully things will soon be back to normal

I had mine taken out about 7 years ago ..i had the same symptoms. tho not as much as 4 times a nite .

my doctor said i didnt need to have a PSA test as i was too young .. luckily i didnt belive him and said i still wanted one .. tbh the worry of it all is far worse than the actual operation.. it was for me anyway.. hope all goes well

Well it's been 17 days since Carl's operation to removed his cancerous total Prostate Gland (24/11)

But Carl's a born~fighter and not one to let anything get him down....so he's been determined to try his very best to get back to a slow normality

EG: walking the dogs & keep things

moving (as advised by the

Urologists)Eating & drinking as

required & resting in between as

also advised.

Carl's still off work and unfortunately STILL "totally incontinent " and also still unable to achieve an erection as yet,

We were referred to the clinic who gave him a pump~ but no joy as yet!!!

He's still working on his pelvic floor exercises ,but has severe Lymphadema in his left leg still(due to the removal of all the nodes in both Groins(as a safe guard) The cancer was removed totally by robotic key hole surgery at the Hallamshire in Sheffield(so anyone with advice please feel free to PM us

been inexactly the same situation.

mine was found because I was being monitored because my brother had it.

I was,also symptom free.

had the same surgery using the robot.

I didn't end up with lymphoddeama tho.

there be a specialist service in your areato deal with that.

treatment involves massage and wearing a stocking.

I had my surgery in 2012. took 18 months for waterworks to settle. important that he does the keegle exercises.

erections took about 12months to come back.

and that with the aid of viagra.

has,he gone through the array of erection aids?

pellet?

injection?

patience is the key.

and stay strong.

both needed to get the swelling down

That gives us real hope that his incontinence will "eventually" get back to normal (fingers and toes ALL X'ed very tightly !! It has only been approx 8 months so far (still on 4/5 pads per day)

But the swelling in his left leg is bad

The massage & stockings help,but by 2/3pm his leg is double the size

He has been told to still go to the gym & walk the dogs with me for 30 mins each day ...then get his legs up on the stool and rest as much as possible...It's just a waiting game now & staying positive,

& for the record .....I've waited 8 months with zero sex!!!!!

Well done for posting about this to raise awareness & I’m glad to hear Carl is fighting back & on the mend!! And well done you for being pushy!

You’re totally right on what you say about not waiting for symptoms to ge checked though.

My Dad was diagnosed in 2009 only because he was having trouble peeing. Turned out he had one tumour the size of a lemon & a smaller one about the size of a grape. No symptoms until the large tumour started pressing on his urethra, stopping him from peeing.

The oncologist said he’d likely had it for up to 6 years at that point without a single symptom.

He was 64 when he was diagnosed. Unfortunately, by then, it was already in his lymph nodes & surgery was pointless. Radiotherapy shrank the tumours followed by chemo a couple of years later when it came back, but by then it had spread to his spine.

He died in the hospice in 2012, aged 67

Standard screening after 60 would have caught it early & he’d still be here

Just because it’s not standard, or even advised (like smears & mammograms) doesn’t mean it’s not a potentially life saving check ... so please get it done guys!! And get your dads, uncles, brothers, grandads to get it done too!! Be pushy like Jules - because she saved Carl’s life!

Keep your chin up guys & use all the tools available- therapy, counselling, support groups, the Prostate Cancer website have a lot of rally good stuff to help you deal with post op issues too!

My dad has lymphodema following surgery. He finds regular massage and the surgical stockings helpful but gets most benefit from using their jucuzzi hot tub (keeping the water temperature slightly cooler than he used to).

It affects everyone differently, and the positive for you is that you are already due to see a specialist - it’s is one of the most treatable cancers if caught early, which is why I’ve never understood the lack of a screening programme.

It sounds like you’re doing all the right things & I'm sure you will be fine!! Especially with a nurse right there to look after you xx

Carl's still recovering (but very slowly)

His Incontinence is getting better daily

thank goodness!! down to 2/3 pads!!

Our 1st Visit to the Erectile Dysfunction clinic,gave him a "penile Pump" which didn't work really(obviously due to the incontinence)We go again this Thursday,when we'll be offered "we've been told by other fellow sufferers on Fabs /family/friends etc etc that Carl will now be offered "pellets" and "Injections" (which apparently work brilliantly!!) positive vibes yeahhhhh!!

His Lymphoma/LYMPHADEMA is still bad in his thighs and left leg especially(due to the removal of ALL the Lymph nodes in each groin ,as a precaution to stop the cancer spreading outside the area(it was contained to the Prostate) an 8mm cancer ,but wasn't shown to have spread outside the area in Carl's Bone and MRI scans thank God!!

It's been soooo bloody hard for both of us ~ x

After 8months of Nothing we both felt we needed some kind of sexual normality,hence why Carl "insisted" we return to Fabs !!

Carl's loving the social side of our chosen "lifestyle" and after 9 very long months (miss minx has been well & truly BBC laid again

Unfortunately~ I have to say that Carl's STILL "TOTALLY erectile & still incontinent & has severe Lymphadema in his left leg as a result of the removal of the groin nodes(as a precaution)

He also (unluckily) has an inqenial Hernia(from lifting a very heavy heavy washer drier with s friend on a removal day) & is awaiting a date for his op.

We still keep smiling and try our best not to allow this to get us both down!!

I'm (obviously) now in need of sex!!! and have now started to meet other BBC's again (with the 100% blessing of my gawjus beautiful Fiance Carl xx bless him x

Hi everyone!!~ Happy new year to u ALL ~x

It's a while since my last update!!!

Carl's Prostate CANCER op was just over 14 months ago now & sadly he's still totally erectile & still suffering with severe Lymphadema in his left leg (although with the use of a 5/7 days a weeks use of the Inovo It's very gradually getting a little bit better

a device he wears rather like a tens machine that "restores the floor!!"

I've also had a sudden stroke on dec3rd and that resulted in my having to have an emergency Carotid Endarterectomy 2 weeks LATER ,SO recovering with a massive bloody scar :o( but ce la vie I'm sooo very lucky to be here thank goodness & to have recovered sooo very well xx

For those that haven’t had it it requires you to have a finger in your bum. They do use lube and you do feel a bit eww for a few hours after.

Sorry to hear about your stroke Jules but glad you've recovered well

About Carl's left leg lymphedema though... is he still getting regular scans and biopsies? Because my father-in-law had one swollen leg for a year and a half after his TURP and they never thought to investigate that. Turned out his prostate cancer had spread and it was a metastasis in the lymph node in that's legs groin

Carl had all the groin Lymphs removed at the same time of his Prostate removal in November 2017!!! and is still suffering with a left leg total Lymphadema & has a massage with his specialist nurse ,but it's noway often enough!! NHS for ya!!

Carl's STILL totally incontinent and erectile & has severe Lymphoedema in his left leg still !!

Now he's had his hernia op, He can now start to use his penile pump in conjunction with the penile injections

( so FINGERS & TOES tightly X'ed this works )

WOULD WELCOME ANY ADVICE HERE WITH REGARDS THIS !! PM US TYVM X

Can I also say, I have issues with my prostate not cancer but Prosititus. I had the anal feel not idea but it’s not as bad as people make out.

"Carl's finally going into Hospital THIS FRIDAY (of all days!!!!)

for his "cancerous"

total~Prostate removal!!

NB:The only symptom he had (seriously) was going to the Lou 3/4 times per night which I personally thought was a little too much.

So I googled this & the "possibility" of 'Prostate Cancer' came up!!

That was in June 2016.

Bloods were slightly high & at this stage it was just "moderately "enlarged & was given medication to 'shrink it (the side effect was "Retograde ejaculation" & diminished Lobedo)

~bloody crap for both of us !!!

His GP told him at his annual check in June 2017..."I'll see you again Carl in 12months"(over my dead body I told him) & demanded he see Carl every month!!!!!

& BLOODY 'THANK GOD' I INSISTED HE SEE HIM EVERY MONTH ~ because by August's examination it had totally changed & felt different(HARDER)

His bloods were higher & at his 2nd MRI scan,BODY BONE SCAN & Biopsies it showed a 8mm tumour!! & Carl' STILL' feels absolutely NORMAL!!

His energy levels are normal,he works out for 2hrs 5 x a week & walks the dogs twice a day !! seriously normal!

So ...take note Fab Guys /peeps~

for ya to have Prostate Cancer :o(

Carl's lucky he had a pushy Fiance LOL

Just to update you all .. x

It’s been just about 22months now since MrC ‘s prosate cancer removal in November 2017

& unfortunately he’s still 100% erectile & still

Suffering with urine incontinance (down to 2:3 pads a day .. compared to double this amount a year ago) so we should be like ??????????well that’s a bonus surely ??

Carl’s left leg Lymphadema is horrendous now

& is suffering with severe discomfort with this being 3 times the size of his right leg

He’s awaiting his 1st appointment with strapping bandages .. as the compression tights aren’t working as good as they should be doing

The recovery had been very very slow .. but

There is now a support group locally Every 2months .. we’ve both been to the 1st two meetings .. and cane vack feeling very angry & annoyed .. that we jumped wayy too

Soon on for total removal .. without getting wayyy more advise regarding treatments available .. as 13/18 of the men at the initial support group meeting .. had all opted for treatment & all 13 were now ok !!

The 5 of the men who were all under Carl’s neurologist .. were all advised removal
