I’m considering going on holiday by myself over Christmas. Has anyone done this, how was it and where would you recommend (I’m after sun not snow)

i think its a wonderful idea! i'm debating going to venice for xmas, but it will be cold!..i've just come back from 10 days away on my own in portugal...it was really warm, much hotter than i thought..and blissful being there on my own! i hope you find somewhere fun!

I go skiing every Xmas and new year . It's great to get away from the UK Xmas

South Africa is in summer then, so you could have a variety of beaches - provide than nearer to UK but less jet lag than other countries. I've been there in our winter but not for Christmas.

Cheaper may be the Canaries, with a fair amount of tastes covered. Mexican resorts come to mind but check weather conditions as I've only been close to there, in the USA at Christmas, where you'll still get winter.

I travel alone all the time and enjoy Christmas overseas.

Been few places Australia, fuertaventura and Cape Verde all fine for different reasons plus I do a lot of other little trips alone and I’ve talked to women on their own on hols don’t think it’s viewed as it used to be

I love going away for Xmas/NY. Last year I did a cycling holiday in Costa Rica. The year before I spent a few days over Christmas in Kuala Lumpur and then went on to Cambodia and Thailand. The year before that I went to the Grand Hyatt in Qatar.

I've done snow in Austria, so much fun.

Both Mrs N and I have done sunshine in Florida, Spain, and the Caribbean, even more fun.

Given a choice, and available finances, there's no way I'd stay here any year. I'd always choose to get away to another country.

I was going to suggest Norway for snow, sauna and sex. But theres less sun...

Aussie land?

India might be good?

Cant remember if hurricane season has ended by now, but maybe costa rica or the carribean

Spent Christmas in Norway including the snow hotel for New Year’s Eve a few years ago. Went to Australia last year.

India I’ve never been so ill add that to the possibles
