"0-60 in 1.9 seconds 630 mile range 250+ mph top speed Impressive? What's the point of these speed any way? We can't go over 60-70 mph here..." Agreed it’s stupid to have vehicles go faster than 80 in this country. What is the point, fuel is expensive. They should just make vehicles which are within the speed limits. Are they saying just in case a nuclear apocalypse happens, and we need vehicles which go fast, mad max style?

" Just because a car can do 200 plus mph it doesn't mean it can't stay within legal limits and to be fair if someone wants to treat themselves then why shouldn't they. I bet it's cheaper on fuel than your family runabout

Are you suggesting that manufacturers produce cars with different limits per country? With the performance and braking of cars these days 70 is a daft limit anyway, set years ago when cars were much different.

"Tesla is unlike any other car company. Their physics first approach to engineering is what separates them and why no other company comes close. When they are in full flow they will be unstoppable. Like it or not they are going to change the driving forever. They’ve even publicity released their own patents to speed up the transition to electric vehicles. The roadster is a technical excercise to show what can be done. Fastest and best in ALL categories. How can you argue? I would never bet against Elon Musk. The guy is something special. " I’ve just seen a conversation on Facebook where someone was arguing the Tesla is boring because you can’t modify and remap it Who needs to remap a car doing 0-60 in under 2 seconds!?!?

"And the grid capacity and infrastructure to supply all these electric vehicles is going to come from where exactly???????" They said that when they invented the internal combustion engine, but when was the last time you worried about a petrol station? Most people, most of the time, start their day at home, and end it at home. With a 620 mile range (at motorway spped) that should easily get you to your destination and home again, and then you can charge it up at home.

" Yeah, no need to remap it, and if you are into seriously modding cars, it's probably not the car for you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with modding or tuning cars, but the vast majority of drivers don't do that, so I can't see that being a big barrier.

" Absolute nonsense. Why are MIT working with european companies and not Tesla then? MIT and the other tech savy universites even put Tesla on blast as rubbish. Simple fact is, European car makers have not jumped in because the electrical grids are not ready and they have not decided to go hydrogen or electric yet. A lot of them think hydrogen will win in the end. Tesla as an everyday product is highly flawed, and the are building them poorly to a standard where each car has 12 - 13 faults in the first 3 months. The worst cars in europe have 1.6 flaws in the first year. Thats not even getting to the fact that Lamborghini has a conecept where the body panels are self healy super capacitors that can power the car at no additional weight to what a panel weighs now etc etc etc. I hope they have a future, but everything I have seen indicates that if and when the big dogs finally decide what they are doing, tesla will be outclassed in every aspect.

Why haven’t the ‘big dogs’ got a car that can do 0-60 in 1.9 secs then?? Because they can’t. Fact. Once the tipping point is reached the big dogs will have to adapt to ev or they will be out of business. Everything Tesla makes is physic principles first. That means they engineer everything in the most efficient and effective way possible. They also make the entire vehicle themselves from the ground up. Improvements are made with every iteration. They keep getting better and better with every car made. Other manufacturers don’t work this way and have to rely on expensive third parties. Giggafactory 1 which builds Tesla vehicles is still only operating at limited capacity. When its fully complete in 2020 it will have the biggest footprint of any building on earth. Fully autonomous and powered entirely by solar. Raw materials in one end. Cars out the other. Nobody else works this way. My moneys on Musk. All of it.
