"Look round any shopping centre at all those crowds of people doing their christmas shopping.Do they look particularly happy and full of christmas cheer? I always feel better off out of it. The lady doth protest too much, methinks. " A small part of me acknowledges that one of the reasons I hate Christmas is that it's just a reminder of how lonely my bleak, sad existence really is. But that's just one of the reasons,,,I actually do hate that hectic scramble round the shops as well.

Have my daughter to do all the xmas stuff with, the xmas eve box, watching films, xmas day my mum and sister come up early to watch her opening presents, do the rounds for an hour around our grandparents then dinner and over to my friends where our daughters run wild and I eat homemade shortbread dipped in melted galaxy! I nearly died giving birth to my son. When we both survived I'd never known such happiness. Eight weeks after his birth I woke up: he didn't. I've wasted many years bemoaning what I didn't have instead of being thankful for what I do have. It makes life so much more enjoyable.

"After a miserable Christmas last year that stemmed from a break up. I have given my head a wobble I have a new partner who will be going big at Christmas this year with her family down south. I am invited but have to work so I’m staying at home for Xmas day and Boxing Day it’s gonna suck but life is on the up. I’m thankful for the way my life has changed and thankful I’m not eating turkey. " With your positive attitude I wish you a good one!

She did and I saw other babies die in scbu. I spent the first 3 weeks thinking why me but it changed at a click of a finger. 10 days later I took her home.

My mum lost my brother when he was 1 year old (before I was born). She always said to me when I've been sad, just put a smile on your face and walk out the door, one day you realise you're not faking it anymore. The world needs more happier people. If you're unhappy being single, I don't believe that's a healthy mind to be in when meeting someone. I'm not looking for another half of me, I am whole already and falling for someone will just enhance my happiness.

"I'm not single but other than first thing in the morning won't see my girlfriend probably until late on boxing day. I've spent a few xhristmases abroad previously and also volunteered, I've also woeked boxing day in recent years to take pressure off myself amd my colleagues when we go back in. I'm an aethiest amd don't celebrate Christmas. I'm also estranged from my family (and general wisdom is that Christmas should really highlight that) and my views on the gross festival of greed and consumerism that are the weeks and months approaching Christmas are well documented. But I am very glad that I always enjoy Christmas day (this year, I'll run, I'll cook and ill enjoy Dr Who!) and am also glad it doesn't prompt the same feelings of loneliness and bitterness that appear in some of these comments. I enjoy nothibg more than seeing other people's happiness and for that reason alone Christmas day can be pretty ace" My sentiments exactly!

My son-in-laws all have thick flowing locks and I do sigh and think life is unfair. I don't however feel bitter and jealous and rejoice if I see someone with a bald patch. My point is it's normal and understandable to sad and long for something you want without wishing ill on others.

Any offers of a cuppa along the way will all be gratefully received and considered, depending on the route I'm driving... which hasn't been planned! I'll be filling up my tin tent and sodding off, most things turn to shite when you plan em anyway; So I thought, no plans, no routes, no forward thinking. Just fill it up and off to go, the only choice I have to make is xmas and New Year or from the 26th onwards to the January 1st.... next year? My life is just so full of complications!

"How many people will you be single this Christmas, will you spend it here in the UK or abroad? No ulterior motives, just looking for ideas." I've been single for the past 30 and I either spend them working, lying about working (so I can be on my own) or with family. I adore my children and grandchildren and the time I spend with them is utterly precious but going home to my place and shutting the door behind me is heavenly.
