Do you like reading, have you got a National Trust membership, any films you want to catch up on, friends you haven't seen for a while, a subject you've always been interested in but haven't had the time to find out more about, do you like making thing could you make some Christmas gifts? You could always spend three months solid on the forums.

Good luck with the operation!

DVDs, series box sets, any hobbies? Any new hobbies you fancy taking up? Any jobs need doing that you've been putting off like sorting paperwork, organising your future etc.?

As someone who has been there and had a lot of time on my hands while I sat on my arse, you start getting creative to stop the madness - reading books you've never got around to, fancy writing a blog? Draw? Paint? I don't know, knit?

Anyway, good luck! I hope it goes well and you heal quickly.

Reading, Netflix, adult colouring and dot-to-dot, puzzle books, knit, sew, make Christmas decorations, do Christmas shopping online or at least start sourcing, if you do buy prezzies start wrapping...

I and various relatives and friends have spent way too much time laid up.

I had an op in 2012 that did the same for me but it was a really snowy winter so I spent 3 months in front of a real fire or a radiator, watched literally hundreds of films, read hundreds of books and survived Xmas in the middle of it.

The only time in my life I have not had to battle to work in snow and I loved it!
