Arrived in this country aged 8 as a refugee and is now knighted.

Arise Sir Mo... you truly are the right stuff that has made this country great.

A good athlete but inspirational? Not sure too many sports people are being knighted for doing what they enjoy and are good at.

What about the people who devote their time to charities, helping others, nurses, Drs etc.

Don't get me wrong it's great what he's achieved, but lives in the US, had questions over performance enhancing drugs, and gets paid a fortune.

Just grates on me how easy these things get thrown at celebs for doing what they are good at that brings no benefit to anyone else.

"A good athlete but inspirational? Not sure too many sports people are being knighted for doing what they enjoy and are good at. "

Do you not think that he will inspire others to become athletes... maybe even great ones. He may even inspire some people to re-think their narrow minded views on refugees, muslims, or vegetarianism?

"What about the people who devote their time to charities, helping others, nurses, Drs etc."

Lots of people who aren't celebrities also get knitted, it's the press who don't think it's worth mentioning.

"Don't get me wrong it's great what he's achieved, but lives in the US, had questions over performance enhancing drugs, and gets paid a fortune."

Yes he was living in the US, because that is where his coaching team lived. There have never been any accusations of Mo using Performance Enhancing Drugs, it was his coach who had questions asked... but not in relation to Mo. And the high pay only comes after the success, it isn't easy on the way up.

"Just grates on me how easy these things get thrown at celebs for doing what they are good at that brings no benefit to anyone else. "

To me, the benefit it brings for others is by highlighting the fact that Hard Work will bring rewards.

I love Mo! I'm so glad he got knighted. He is an inspiration to so many. I know many young people who got into running because of his success.

The only reason he went to the US is because that's where the best training facilities were. Of we invested more in our sports programmes here then he wouldn't have left.

I'm so happy he got knighted.

I'm sorry but knighted for what reason, he's just a good runner or was. The honours system is completely debased these days.

Maybe, but that's not Mo's fault. And as the most successful distance runner ever I can't think of a more deserving candidate

For raising the profile of Great Britain on the international sporting scene, for inspiring many thousands of people to be more active, for being a great ambassador.

I would say representing your country and achieving so many accolades through your hard work and determination, often at the detriment to his family life is something worth honouring.

YEP. And how about being about the best role model possible to the youth of this nation?

Called him out on that earlier. Supposed to refuse a knighthood because Jason Kenny has got one? He's a troll

I have no objection whatsoever with that it's just the "level" of honour. The honours system is now just a cross between a popularity contest and continuation of the "class system". Think it was this year a Liverpudlian charity worker passed 50 years of unpaid voluntary work and got a MBE, in my mind he should have got the knighthood.

^ Yep Sir Mo deserves it ^

Some people don't realise what he had to overcome off the track, but let's focus on the track...

We had no chance of getting any of those medals, but Mo Farah had other ideas. He dominated to the point where it forced the Kenyan and Ethiopian athletes to join together to try and take him out.

We need his emoji on here.

Well, he was based in the US so I bet he was and probably still is.

Personally I think anybody who is shouldn't get an honour.
