About 5 years ago i came across a plug in wok from Aldi/Lidl (can’t remember which as i always get the two mixed up). To date it’s been my favourite kitchen utensil....it’s so versatile and i love it. Which kitchen tool do you swear by/enjoy using more than others and why?

I don't use kitchen gadgets, unless you count my digital scales which I use when baking.

I don't see the point in having cupboards full of gadgets that I don't need when I can do everything with my cooker and pots and pans that I already have.

A few years back I got an 'onion chopper' which is essentially a dozen pins in a handle allowing for small and precise cuts. Come heartily recommended.

I got one of those JML Copperstone pans, paid a fortune for it, got it back home and as soon as I started cooking realised there's no damn lid for the thing!

this pretty much, you can bang some lovely stuff out of your kitchen without loads of extra crap..

My mum buys into it all..got one of those George formby grills..what a pain in the area, plug it in, heat up..clamp stuff in it till cooked, take the bits off..wash all three bits separately (one pan is much easier) reassemble and RE pack the cupboard around it. Just use a bloody pan..it's loads more faffing about to save turning something over...it's the illusion of labor saving when realistically it's just more to wash etc..garlic crusher..use a knife.

Jml rotating veg slicer..piss off. Knife

Saw a thing today in fact for cutting your veg into spirals..plastic thing..we've only gone and extracted the very oil from the earth at what economic and environmental cost who knows, built this stuff in factories and shipped it around the globe so we can have spiral veg...

I seriously despair of the human race when I think about them too much.

My slow cooker. Some of the stuff I’ve produced from it is fucking amazing if I do say so myself. In fact, one of my sound clip recipes was the last thing I cooked in it

My hand blender that I use for soups, smoothies and milkshakes.

Then my hand mixer that I use for making batter. I can't whisk by hand any more.

Everything else I do by hand.

I have a cast iron griddle pan which is fantastic for cooking steak and such, also couldn't manage without my WoK! My smoothie maker too but most of all probably my garlic crusher - saves so much messing about

Generally I'm an old school cook and baker but must admit I love my blender (just a cheap Argos one but great for soups, smoothies, milkshakes, blending cooking sauces for fussy daughter who doesn't like 'bits' so I can sneak more veg in ) and I am missing having a slow cooker at the moment.

I do frequently get people shocked I don't have a microwave, haven't for years and don't see the point, most people only use them to reheat stuff anyway, mainly flipping baked beans which heat up just as quickly in a pan anyway!

Slow cooker - great for stews/chilli etc cooking when I'm out. Good knife set - was so sceptical about getting sharp knives, but so far still have all my digits & chopping/slicing is so much easier . Hand blender - for all those soups, but mine also has a whisk attachment

Far more likely to hurt yourself with crap knives than good sharp ones

I love a good gadget but in reality the only one we use regularly would be out slow cooker. Not only is it great for cooking meals in, we use ours to make the most amazing stock which we usually ladle straight into a risotto

I bought two ceramic knives and the problem I've found is that they're that sharp that when I've cut myself I haven't noticed until the blood oozes!

A plastic veg steamer that I got from a kitchen party my friend had years ago. It was the cheapest thing there, I bought it because she'd get freebie. I use it every time we have veg, it's great

The convection/ microwave setting on my microwave. It means that I can do oven chips in 10 minutes, (freezer to plate) using only a little bit of electricity.

I love that.

I also love my hand blender... Everything from scrambled eggs, smoothies and soups get the blender treatment.

My knife and sharpening steel set. Still as sharp as the day I bought them 15 years ago.

We have only one gadget, and that is our giant slow cooker. Makes huge batches of our favourites for freezing, and I love coming home to the smell of the food that's ready to go when we walk in.

"Cheese slicer, it makes perfect cheese slices for butties."

Oh these are so '80s! They allowed my mum to feed me and my mates endless cheese sandwiches after school without using the world's supply of cheddar cheese.

Good memories.
