Having spent a year short staffed and regularly working 6 day weeks, staying late and the occasional 7 day week my work settled down earlier this year and truth be told I;m finding it a struggle to adjust to having free weekends again! But it;s really brought home just how out of balance it was

Kinda..work seven day weeks, 16 hrs a day for 4 months a year then get most of the rest of the year off..I like it that way though...couldn't drag myself to a 9-5 48 weeks a year..I don't do mornings in winter

Our work/life balance is just right...now. We're older, semi-retired our children are inependent, we have no huge financial obligations so it's possible to have the balance we longed for before. We've always put family and outside life before work anyway which even nowadays isn't a popular way to live.

Well I make sure I work just my 9-5 in officr , ocactionally reading work emails on the way in to the office, and sometimes on way home but very rarely after 8pm and only around month end or quarter end.

This works for me. I used to end up working 8.20 to 5.30 and sometimes 6 o’clock. This was with a boss who used to email at 11pm at night so I never knew what I was coming in to.

I make sure I play Xbox or watch tv shows during the week or on way home to relax as well

I work a 50 hour week , it’s my business and it’s hard work . We have a ten year old son , and my wife works 28 hours a week , in same business .

We get a sitter three nights a week , without fail . Costs us a over £100 a week , but worth every penny . It’s a chance for us to be and to do what we want , our own time if you like . Keeps us sane , and we wouldn’t want it any other way .

I work 12 hours shifts which I don’t mind, it’s great pay and allows us to do pretty much whatever we want when we want.

I also started my own small business up a couple of years back, restoring and revamping furniture. The extra money was great and I’ve really enjoyed having fun with it but I decided to knock it on the head earlier this autumn.

The extra cash wasn’t worth the extra work to me, finishing a 72 hour week on shift and then having to deal with customers was starting to get to me.

Sometimes I just appreciate doing nothing and sitting on the sofa with the dog

Very unbalanced at the moment, such is the nature of the beast called work.

Still the release is so much sweater when it happens.

Since I changed job a few months ago, slightly higher pay with mostly less hours I'm much happier than I was. Mostly my own boss and less hassle, wish I'd done it years ago.

I'm lucky to have a job that fits in around school hours so I can do the school run and be around when the kids are at home. Finances suffer a bit because of that but I'd say my work/ life balance is much healthier than it was when I was self employed and working another job. That was crazy and not good for my mental wellbeing.

We both took early retirement, but we still find ourselves busy with running grandchildren around to football, dance and college. We still make plenty of time for ourselves though, going where we want, when we want and having holidays anytime we want.
