Does no mean ‘just try harder’?

I had a mail asking for sex. I replied, with manners, no thank you.

Got a few replies to be finally told I’m hard work.

So if you’re told ‘no’ do you continue to try?

I find that many just keep messaging like we are old friends... what’s that all about

I point out to one guy I had said no thanks many times and he thought I was shy and would come round.., seriously

Why would anyone get involved with someone who can’t respect no means no

Ok rant over

There and to the left a bit

What's the point in keep on trying if someone has already said a polite no thanks - will only serve one purpose, and that's to strengthen the resolve of the person that said no and probably piss them off into the bargain, no matter whether it's on here or life in general.

If the polite "no thanks" isn't working then block 'em!

I’ve recently discovered that gay men are very difficult to convince that you’re straight when sporting a large moustache

Some of them are very pretty according to Lacey and I should be flattered !

Like everything else, no means no, but don't understand why the various posters who have had similar don't block!

To me, no means no! Why waste my time messaging if they're not interested. Same with a deleted message.

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

Men...Pah...

They just won't take no for an answer.

I find marking the message as unread and then deleting it has a desired effect..

I can't understand why anyone replies to messages from people they are not interested in. It just encourages them to keep trying.

There are set rules for this. If you own a helicopter, a glider, a fleet of Audis and your own dungeon then not taking "no" for an answer is "romantic". If you don't work in a building that is named after you and look like quasimodo then its just creepy.

If someone says no to me, or even hints at no I back off.

But some women will say no to a guy and he will keep trying. Cause thats how he gets laid till he exhausts all possibilities. He does not see it as a "no" to him, he sees it as a no to the scenario he just pitched you.

So now he pitches you a new one, and a new one.

I only reply once if no my reply is thanks for letting me know and I won't contact again

It never hurts to keep manners even for a no

When I say no I always mean no and I hate when I have to repeat it.

But sometimes if I really want something, I don't take no as an answer and I keep trying and eventually I get what I want. Cute is the best example

This is exactly why it's a mistake to reply to people to say 'Thanks but no thanks'.

Too many men jump on a reply, even a negative reply, as they think the door has been opened slightly. They then go into pester mode.

Far easier to delete the email and block.

It sounds harsh, and for men reading it might even seem rude, but sadly that's the way it has to be. The bad eggs are spoiling it for the others.

Then there are the ones who say no, and then go and message you a few days weeks or months further down the line.

Clueless with no idea that they've said no already or they remember but now would meet you...either way they shift their standards over time ... on different days people will do and say different things.

I still won't carry on after a no though, it's just a fanny, nowt special, plenty others out there

Sometimes (actually many) for various reasons I'm not at all interested from the beginning and having been on here a few years now I know better than to risk a reply to someone I'm not remotely interested in.

Sometimes (rarely) you don't know it is a no till you've chatted a bit on here and then discover - for whatever reason - that you're not compatible so I then say honestly and politely 'sorry you're not for me'

Most are ok and say thanks for being honest. If they push it with 'why' 'you can't know that' 'but we been chatting fine' etc I'll be clearer and firmer and if they STILL don't get it - block!

ANY that say shit like 'no is really a maybe' etc instant block - that is the mindset of someone with no respect for women of the type that commit assault and don't even register it as assault! No way am I making myself vulnerable to someone like that!

No means no.

Persistence is the thin end of the wedge.

Pester to meet? Then pester to go bareback? Pester to have everything on his terms? Pester to stop meeting others... Where does it end.
