The year's John Lewis ad:

A slow, acoustic reading of Who Let The Dogs Out plays while a puppy gazes longingly out a snowy window. Each shot includes more piled-up snow, indicating the passage of time. He forlornly watches other pooches play in the street, but alas, he is cooped up inside, alone. Cut to Christmas morning and his owners are opening pressies. Dad gets an electric razor. Mum gets a bottle of perfume. Son gets a wholesome wooden train. The boy nudges a large present box toward the dog and a Thai bride puppy bursts out. Nobody is lonely and the song gets to number one.

Ive not seen, but seen mixed reviews on book face. Some even saying it scared their kids, so will be interesting to see. Apparently aldi and marks and Spencer's are better. My favourite one of all time was the sainsburys one a few years ago.

All the adverts that keep showing someone getting older/passing of time are a bit depressing. We all know we're getting older, an M and S Christmas or Sky film won't soften the blow

The ending is a bit sad but it does hint that the monster is still there after the light goes out

Didn't like it.

I don't want to see a dog cruely locked inside, or a stupid brat kid who needs a light to sleep.

The older I get the more I dislike them, its like we are just a target market for them. They are all terrified of mentioning jesus etc.

Out of all the Christmas adverts I've seen over the past few years, I still like that one with Frankenstein's monster wanting to sing a Christmas song with the people there which nearly doesn't go well until the little girl joins in along with everyone else which brings a smile and some happy tears to his face.

It's such a beautiful Christmas advert which always brings a tear to my eye

dont really watch adverts, usually record and skip them or go on phone while ads are on, or even watch youtube for the break usually can time it to one song.

Ahem...a fab friend alerted me to the ad having been released as I was on FB at the time looked it up on there and thought it was quite good...clever use of an Adele song I thought...

....fast forward a few hours and an ad comes on the telly about a monster under a little boys bed - my daughter exclaims "ooh it's the John Lewis Xmas advert" to which I point out it's not as the advert this year was about someone sending notes to Santa asking for an iPad and getting sent an eye patch one year, some pads the next year and finally after typing him a note getting the wanted iPad - all set to a version of Adele's "Hello"

Daughter remains insistent that the monster under the bed ad is THE one - a few Google's later and turns out the one I "found" was a spoof for a radio station!!

The Halloween advert from Asda this year was good but I liked last year's advert with a family of werewolves looking for Halloween costumes
