Job interview

So I had the internal interview with my company on Tuesday. It went well and since I have been hearing information from my old boss, which is indicating I may get the job.

I’m finding it really frustrating, as they say they don’t know for sure if I will get it, yet it’s getting my hopes up! I just don’t want to be let down.

Any tips on how to take my mind off thinking about it??

Somewhere / Everywhere /Kinksville

Apply for a job at a different company. Might make them make their mind up quicker.

This actually happened to me last year! I think I was left about 6 weeks with no answer but got head hunted in between.

Would be great to get Head hunted. My current boss will be leaving me as that’s happened to him

I don't think there's much that you can do to take your mind off it completely.

The people that carry out recruitment interviews usually make their mind up straight away, things like points systems etc can get in the way a bit though. Did they say what's taking the time, are they waiting for references or something?

Wouldn’t need a reference as I am an internal applicant

Some jobs treat internal applicants exactly like external and might still need a reference.

Some legally cant say anything to you and have to review every applicant before deciding.

Best way to think about it is, your current boss got head hunted. He is probably breaking someones heart in that company who had their eye on the job. Someone external might come in and get the job you want, its all about being in the right place at the right time and dont take it personal.

If it starts to get you down start to look elsewhere. Sometimes people dont get a promotion cause they do their current job so well, the company cant imagine getting as good a replacement etc.

In my experience if they hint youre getting the job, you get it.
