Just had an interesting thought

The thought is, is it stealing if someone buys a ticket for a film, sits all the way through and then makes up something to complain about after the movie finishes just to get a refund?

Cinema chains steal from us every time we go there. 7 quid for a hot dog and a pop, or 4 quid for 2 scoops of b&j icecream when you can buy a whole tub for that!

Go for it but you could probably only do it once.

The one and only time I got up from a film and asked for a refund was when I went to watch Sweeny Todd and didn't know it was a musical! We sat through like 10 minutes and they didn't stop singing, thought fuck this and went to the desk and watched alien vs predator instead.

Genuine disappointment would be an honest reason though.

I'm not sure if cinemas accept "I thought the film was crap" as a reason to give a refund, it's worth a try I suppose.

I once ordered rhum baba because I wanted to try it. I hated it and left it all apart from one mouthful. The restaurant insisted on refunding us for it and for our drinks despite me telling them it was just a case of it not being to my taste rather than a quality problem.

Yeah that is a good way of putting it. I think it would also be stealing if someone bought food at a cinema, asked for a refund after not liking the food and then taking food anyway

No they don't, they may be considered to over charge for the items mentioned but you agree to but them, ergo no stealing involved.

Oh no I used to lol, have a big hand bag with goodies lol and once in watch movie of my choice but if bored sneak into other screen lol once fell asleep in the cinema and woke up 5 hours later lol seats are way to comfy to be fair the movie was 50 shades lol x

A retiring cop in his late 50's able to defeat a the predator an intergalactic warrior.

I went to see Star Wars a few years back was over Xmas the screen was pretty busy for a late evening showing. Tho a young couple thought it was a good idea to bring their new born child to the cinema.....

Baby kept on crying before eventually the mother left.

I used to love going to the cinema but it’s such a drag these days. Why can’t people be quiet? And there isn’t anyone sat in there that’s important enough to need to check their phone during the film.

It would be dishonest to make something up to get a refund.

I’m off to watch the rugby on Saturday and it clearly says that if you have any issues watching the game then you need to tell a steward at the time and not wait until afterwards

I'm sure it is the same at any cinema that any ticket can be refund during a film screening and not after.

With me working in a cinema, it has been a long while since a customer came out to complain about someone making a noise in a screen during a film. Now it seems customers are coming out to complain after the film has finished more and more. I'm sure their excuse to not tell someone during a film is because they don't want to miss any of the film.

I fear this becoming a new type of scam

I'm a massive proponent for independent cinema, my current favourite is FACT Liverpool. I try to contribute as much as possible, if I'm having a coffee in the centre will always use their cafe as for me every penny counts. So I would be disgusted over someone cheating them or any other independent. But the major chains .....go ahead
