Butlins dining plans are they good value?

Have been to Butlins loads but usually share an apparent with cooking facilities, fridge microwave etc. Our next trip we are just getting a room, although hope we get an upgrade.

They offer two dining packages which are cheaper if we book before in advance, both include breakfast & buffet dinner for the 3 days.

Has anybody stayed & had the dining package, did it represent good value, was the food ok & what’s the difference between the two packages?

Obviously it’s the most convenient option, otherwise we semi self cater & eat out when we want.

Thanks.

We went to The House of Fun and had premier dining............. excellent food and lots of choice. We are going again in 2 weeks time.

I don't know the difference between the dining plans but a few years ago we had the cheaper one and the food was ok but not great. It is pretty good value for money when you consider how much it costs to eat out.

At Easter I took my niece and we just had a room and ate at the restaurants on site. They were pretty expensive and the food wasn't very good.

The only reason we didn't go with the dining plan is because of the meal times, they were too early for us. We are not early risers and we didn't want to eat our evening meal at 5pm, we would much rather eat a couple of hours later.

Tganks the dining times are restrictive, but they’re designed around the music which ultimately is why we’re there. If we could guarantee an upgrade or knew we had a room large enough to have a microwave we’d take our own, although maybe we could hire one.

And your point being just because we’re posting in the lounge on a Swingers site we should be talking sex?

There and to the left a bit

If you're going to one of their music weekends then I'd say go for the dining plan, isn't that much more expensive, but takes all the hassle out of having to worry about eating. I've been to the Madness House Of Fun Weekend several times and had the dining package each one.

The food's basic, but there's a choice of dishes, and is good to soak up the alcohol As it's buffet style, you can have as much or as little as you want.

Have never had the premier food, but friends that did said it wasn't worth the extra you pay for it as all you really get is posher seats/tables, less wait time as less people take it, a stir fry option that's cooked to order, or omelette at breakfast but other than that the food is the same.

Oh and the entertainment tends to be geared around meal times too, so you won't miss anything.

Have a great time

The standard dining plan is a bit like a cattle market, however the premium plan was good- much more choice and more relaxed

No idea but I did once meet a chef who went on to work at Butlins and I got the impression the food was good quality.

No I am saying it is awesome. That's what I love about this place. The random diversity of topics. From anal fisting to Butlins in two clicks.

Never done the dining option as I tend to eat mid afternoon and then later in the evening. I can understand people doing it though, as meals are sequenced to the entertainment, especially if you have young children with you.

Ohhhhhhhh to be a red coat (or whatever colour they are).

That’s really good advice & I’m sure I we will have a good time, be nice to have some fun but tbh the line up is so good don’t think we’ll be able to fit any in.

Thanks.

We have done both types of dining plan and stick to premium dining now. It sounds expensive for the weekend but the choice is unbelievable. Eat as much or as little as you like at breakfast and tea time. Hot drinks machines and cold drinks machines loads of different starters mains desserts. Spoilt for choice but we love it. And we’re there in skeg this next weekend

Agreed and VIP for bar too, 2 minute queues at worst, often pretty much straight away service

we not done the vip bar as we do a lot of wandering. Looks like we will be in reds most of the weekend looking at this next weekends line up so would be a waste of money for the vip bar as it’s only in centre stage
