Fakes don't really bother us that much as we've not yet been duped into anything bad like a no show or wasting time and money. But recently we've talked to a couple of people who aren't verified but come across as genuine. They have something in common. They're singles who say they also have a couples profile. They've even give their other username which when looked up is obviously genuine.

We're probably being a bit paranoid because they're both unverified (photo or meeting) is it possible fakes are being a bit more inventive by pointing towards someone elses couples profile and claiming its them? We don't want to be rude by quizzing them but thought we'd ask here if anyone has come across similar? Have you had or know of people who've had their profile photos used on a fake profile or have you had another experience where you've been duped?

Its also quite easy to photoverify at least. My alarm bells always go off when I see a profile that is neither verified by meet or photo!

We’ve been talking to somebody for a long time now, no photo verification but has a meet veri from another female.

She seems really genuine, but when it comes to photos she only seems to have the same few that keep coming back up, and seems to be really keen

to meet right up until a few days before when she disappears or has some other appointment come up.

She’s ringing all the alarm bells but with just enough to make us think that maybe she’s genuine and just not sure about this world.

When we don’t message she gets in touch and talks about meeting and then goes quiet again.

Tough read.

How reliable do you think verifications are on here?

One is photo verified and the couples profile she refers to is heavily verified so not overly concerned about that conversation. But the second has been on over a year without any veri at all. No photos. Again probably ok but it did get me wondering if there was a trend or if there were known tricks that people play.

As said above the simplest way is to ask for a message or wink from the couples profile which I'm sure we'll do going forward.

We do use the clubs but so far only as a meeting place. I think we get a bit of a thrill from using Fab. The added situations like anticipation, public meetings etc. Obviously theres a downside but touch wood, so far nothing serious.

This is like us ..we do our meeting at a club we seem to have no luck with meets we put up ..using fab to stay in touch with a few friends and forum now x storm x

If they are using the strength of a named couples profile then it has no value unless they message you from it.

If they make it hard then I keep my distance.

How reliable do you think verifications are on here?

I don't think verification prove anything. Someone with 50 verifications might still not turn up for a meet. Someone with none might turn up. I trust my gut. In the situation you describe I'd assume it's a man. Does 'she' talk about sex, what you might do together?

Even if she doesn't talk about sex I'd still be wary. If you like chatting to her then carry on but I wouldn't get your hopes up about ever meeting.
