Just for friendly debate...

The quality of photos... Does it matter?

Are you put off by less-than-perfect photos? Or don't you care?

I'm not talking about what the photos actually show, I'm talking about whether the actual photos are any good.

Some members have exceptional photos and clearly have made some effort. Lots are average but OK, and some are plain bad.

At the end of the day, aren't we all trying to 'sell' something? Do members with better photos have more luck?

Also, while we're on the subject of photos... People using photos that are clearly 20 years old. What do we think about that?

I'm a visual person so the time & effort someone has put into their photos does impact on my decision making. I'm not referring to professional ones just good lighting & an interesting subject matter

As long as 'some' thought has gone into the photo the the quality doesn't bother us.

Those photos taken on the toilet or an extremely untidy room or extreme close up of genetalia are the ones we are talking about. Dont just think about the subject but look at the surroundings And lighting as well.

Good post OP.... I do work hard on my body, healthy eating, gym etc.... and I admit I like the attention when I post a new pic. You will notice on my profile I’m well verified and I’m not even showing my cock for public viewing. During my time on Fab I have found the secret to success is mystery and surprise. If someone makes the effort to pose for a pic then it will get lots of attention. If it’s a random cock shot then I’m afraid that type of pic won’t sell well as there are so many of them. As for old photos or photo shopped photos I believe they are very misleading

Well I believe the majority on here would like people who message them to invest a little time into it. If all their pics are of poor quality have they really invested much time in taking it?

In my eyes your profile is the way to express yourself. Give an insight into the person you are. There are timers on cameras so a blurry picture is plain lazy in my opinion. And using your flash in a mirror is just a pointless endeavour

Spot on!

A degree of mystery certainly works for us. It also attracts us.

Mrs is far more interested in a nice body shot than a cock shot (which we tend to discount immediately).

Of course, that's just us. Others may feel different.

I appreciate a good photo. I do t like bad photos and I do judge someone's creativity in that basis.

But I don't judge wether I like the person or not, not everyone can appeal to everyone, I get that.

Photos are only a little bit of your story in fab.

Photos don't have to be perfect for me to show an interest in someone - I do like to see some 'thing' that captures my interest though. Yes, better photos will tend to garner more interest from others - sex is quite a visual thing as much as it's purported to be a far deeper thing on the fora.

If someone can't be arsed to put a few decent photos up it's either laziness or trying to hide something. Neither I'm going to be interested in.

I’ve always thought of a comparison when selling your car on auto trader. Close ups of the gear knob won’t sell it. Photos of the car covered in mud won’t sell it. You would take decent photos all round the car, ensuring it was clean and presented well. So why would you not apply this theory when creating an album on here?

I definitely think there are a many ppl that put a lot of effort into pics judging by the avatars in the forum. I have noticed in the short time I’ve been on the site that the pics have definitely become more creative and artistic. This is something that is particularly noticeable on the forum. The unsolicited messages with pics from other site members are not even close to the same standard. I have messaged ppl to say I like their pics which is usually thread related as I wouldn’t really look at pics otherwise. Photography is an amazing thing and the human body the perfect subject when thought goes into the pictures. All that said, I’m not visual so I wouldn’t lust over pics and want to meet someone. However, should a guy have had a portfolio of tinky winky pics, I would make a judgement and know he wouldn’t be for me. I seem to have a lot to say on the matter considering I don’t do pics

I agree, personally my photo’s highlight my best attributes. Things that I am happy with, Things that express me as an individual that may appeal to some and not others, for example my dress sense and my tattoo. Not something everyone will appreciate it but it’s who I am and who people get when they meet me in person. I’m a realist not a fantasist, what you see is what you get.

Also I take time finding a photo that compliments me and is accurate. Reason being I take pride in my appearance.

Yes most off putting to be messaged by people with no pics or they're only on their friends setting or they are so bad you can't tell what it's a pic of! Also out of date pics, I had a meet early on in being a fab member and when he turned up had clearly been using pics at least 15 years out of date! Straight away a no!

I hope my pics are ok they seem to get good feedback but also as a larger lady it makes sense to me that they are honest eg I've put on some weight recently due to medication and so I've updated my pics to reflect that, I also have some deliberately unflattering 'warts and all' pics that I send privately if I'm wanting to make sure the recipient is genuinely interested in a larger older lady (lots claim to be but when it comes down to it a few aren't really - that's cool but I'd rather know before I've spent half the day getting ready)

I think one should try their best. It's your front door, your profile is your house, the forum is your garden.

If you don't try with the profile it doesn't give much confidence that they'll try be any better when it comes to a meet.

I like to see effort has been taken. They do give a lot away, e.g. guys that have taken umpteen pics in their high viz in the cab of their truck. To me that says that's where they're gonna want to meet and thats what they're gonna be wearing.

I don't demand professional pics, but I do like effort and pics that express the person

It's easy to take good pics with the ubiquitous smart phone these days, so there should be few excuses for not having them. There are free pixelating apps too, and I use one of these to mask my face.

Photos are important to help me decide who I might want to meet, and I'm unlikely to meet anyone who can't at the very least send me some good ones.

Wow...that is exactly what I think as well.

I like to think that my pictures and wordings represent me in a subtle way.

Let the reader or viewer interpret it themselves.

My pictures usually capture my emotion of that moment and in pictures with partners (with consent), subtly tell the viewer of the physical type of men I'm interested in.

But it depends on the reader.

Some people look but they didn't see.

Poorly lit and unclear photos are fairly common - and it's always the specific ones that you need to be clear to let you know whether someone is attractive to you or not, in my experience.

I also find provision of photos as if jigsaw pieces,so you have to assemble a mental image of people, a big frustration.

And why, oh why, use pics where you are so far from the camera?! You can tell it's a human but little else.

There are some images that you think why?

Out of focus, blurry and incomprehensible images that do nothing.

There is no reason for poor quality images, we no longer use box brownies.. Every mobile phone now has a very capable camera attached and free editing software is available should you need to brighten an image or get rid of a horrible colour caste.

It's simple, take lots of pictures and pick the one decent one from the bunch.

Less is definitely more (that also applies to clothing in the photos

)

I agree, saw a photo the other day and it took me 20 minutes to realise they were in the 69 position... it looked like he had 4 legs and 3 arms

We just like some that show a bit of effort yet stay classy, rather than just full on ‘here’s everything’. The photo quality isn’t such a massive issue (phones can take pretty good photos nowadays) but just something that’s taken more than 5 seconds to think about.

We put quite a bit of effort into ours (which hopefully shows!) so can be a bit put off by some that obviously haven’t been thought about.

It never fails to amaze me the pictures some people post on here that have no real thought put into them regarding both content and quality - pictures taken in a child's bedroom or with family photos in the background, or the ubiquitous toilet bowl - how can any of those things be considered appealing by the poster? Or is it a case of just snapping off a few pics and thinking "they'll do"?

I freely admit I don't have the best of bodies, and that my pics aren't the best or most imaginative around but I like to think I've put a little effort into them and they have a certain level of style.

As others have said with the use of most mobiles/tablets and the inbuilt timer, coupled with readily available editing software - there's no real excuse for blurred, indistinct or poorly taken pics.
